I called Tiny Details yesterday about the two kits I sent in. Dixie told me they were evaluated yesterday morning, but that my account did not show if they were accepted or not. She said I will either get a check or my kits back shortly (or one check and one kit back).

I will be very surprised if I get my 1950s Girl Calendar kit back. They were all perfect, in my opinion. The Washingtons looked great, but could someone find a little flaw here and there? Probably.

Anyway, my point was not that it's all sunshine and roses working with Tiny Details, but simply that I don't think they are a "scam". People are quick to come up with that when their samples don't get approved, or their kits get sent back to be corrected. But I am confident that they pay when good, quality work is submitted that meets their standards.

So far, I have not run into the issue of running out of supplies due to practicing. I have ordered replacement supplies that equal the amount of supplies in the original kit (in other words, and entire new kit, just without the knife & glue) and have always received them (although it takes a couple of weeks to get them, sigh). When I needed more than that, they charged me around $13.00 (can't remember the exact amount, but I put it in a previous post) to have another whole replacement kit sent.

But, I'm sure we all have different experiences, as they do seem to be hit & miss quite a bit with consistency.

Congrats, turn-n-burn! It's nice to get approved, isn't it?

Last week I sent in my book sample, so I should get an answer back next week. I am also still waiting to see if I get my calendar kits back, or if I get paid. Hopefully I will find that out next week as well.

I got my replacement supplies for the Xmas lights boxes, so I'm working on those this weekend. Hopefully I will be able to finish my kit soon and send it in. I need to make about 35 more boxes. Was hoping to finish this weekend, but I have lots of errands to do, so not sure if I will finish until next weekend.

I got my Washington Calendar kit back yesterday. The letter said that the little round parts at the top were not symmetrical enough. They are supposed to have the same amount of border all the way around the little white dot. And, they must use some sort of magnification when they inspect the kits because they said I had some edges of the underneath pages showing from under the top page. To the naked eye it is almost impossible to see, but when I looked really closely at the examples they stapled to the letter, I could see what they meant.

So, now I have to order replacement supplies to correct my kit. I'm going to be traveling for the month of November, so even if I order replacement supplies now, I'm sure I won't get them before I leave. So I won't get to start trying to fix this kit until December. I'm going to have to call and get an extension.

I did not get my 1950 Girl Calendars back, so I'm hoping that's good news. We'll see if I get a check soon. I'll keep you posted! :-)

Smile TD has a new printer

Hey all,

just got a msg from Dixie.....my lite box is approved, just needed a little more glue....and instead of me using the original supplies, she is sending 100 printed from the new printer and said it should take care of ink rubbing off, especially when folding, etc....that would be great.....

k, later, later....Di

Di, congrats on getting approved on the box! :-)

Good to know they have a new printer... I hope that solves the problem for all the projects that have this issue.

Well, I got my 1950s Girl Calendar kit back today. Bummer. The letter said that overall I did a really good job. It said my calendar pages are perfect (I had refined my technique after I finished the Washington Calendars) but that a lot of the calendars have a tiny line of white showing at the top, and that the green border around the calendar needs to be the same width all the way around. It said that it should be an easy fix.

So, I ordered more supplies for my Washingtons today, and will get to work correcting my Girls.

Smile Hey all in TD land.....

Hey thx sweetsun.....

i think the fact that Dixie called me to tell me not to go ahead and do the other sheets was great....and sounds like the new printer will be the fix for most of the issues, especially when folding something...she said it should really take care of the problem....WooHoo.....

i've got an NEC samp to get done....a unit to send...and another samp.....I do 2 right now for NEC and waiting approval on 2 more.....gettin close on both.....

Have fun fixing your "girls".....hey all.......

Di

I'm surprised that you got your calendars back sweetsunshine. It's kinda funny because the sample that they sent me of the 1950 calendar, the green border wasn't even at all, you could easily see that with the naked eye. Makes me worried on mine. I think I'm going to order more supplies and get a green marker. Well, good luck everybody. Did you use a paper cutter on your calendars or just scissors?

Turn-n-burn, it's weird because I have found fault with every sample they have sent me. This is why I guess I wasn't totally worried about having everything perfect. The Washington Calendar sample they sent me had the little round part at the top all lopsided. Then that's what they ding me for on my kit. I just used a craft knife (not the one that came with the kit, I bought a better quality one myself) to cut the shaped parts at the top, then a ruler and knife for the straight edges.

I did not get a sample for the 1950 Girl Calendars. But I figured how hard can a square be? But I have to admit I was not focusing on having a equal border around all 4 sides.

Anyway, I ordered replacement supplies, but I'm leaving for 3 weeks on November 2nd, so I probably won't get my replacement materials before I leave, so looks like I will be working on these corrections in December.

Maria, thank you for your input. I can see how they could get mixed up with payments, deposits, etc. I had to call several times and straighten it out with them when I had ordered replacements on 3 different kits. I had to stay on top of it or I may never have gotten my stuff. So I plan to stay on top of it when I finally get to where they pay me for my kits.

I wonder where mersade and nishka are? I think 99% of at home assembly give you supplies that are printed badly and are very cheap and hard to work with and then they all expect perfection. On the 1950 calendars, the printing job isn't perfect because before you cut them out, the green border isn't even on all sides to begin with, so after you cut them out they are to be magically even?? I don't get it. I'm doing the best I can using a paper cutter for most of it, but I can already see that the green border isn't perfectly on all sides.
Aside from everything, everyone staying away from that dreadful H1N1 flu?
