I was at walmart today, and saw that mine just got in these new high temp ( I use high temp ones because I am slow, so it gives me more time to get things in place before it dries) glue gun that has a narrow tip so that you can get into the small spaces with it. It was under $5 (can't remember now exactly how much it was) and it was a mini one. I can't wait to use it. I don't have any projects right now as I am waiting for my inspections to come back. (sent in my evil horse for yet another inspection) I think this gun will make a big difference for me as I have a tendency to be a bit messy with the glue gun in the small spaces. I might actually be able to get a small thin bead with this one. Maybe tomorrow I will try it on some scrap fabric just to see how it goes. I'll let you all know.

Inel-I'm sorry those circles are giving you such a hassle. Guess every project has it's tough spots. Hang in there, maybe it's something that will get easier the more you do. Hopefully!

Dragonfly thank for the advise on the ruler. I will go and look for one.

justmeuc the circles are not too bad. I use a plastic kids ring to draw circles and also a plastic big eye. I have actually perfected my circles and found a way to apply the paint so the undercoat of the wood does not show through the color of the circles. Everytime I get more supplies from NEC for scotty and kitty it does get easier. I have done a few scotties and kitties and I am hoping when the supplies increase each time I will work an even better method of getting quicker. But with kids and house work it is hard to just work on the projects all the time so have to take breaks inbetween. Good luck on horse. I hope you pass. Keep at it and never give up. If youy are really struggling I would then give then a call and ask to be switch.

leighamarie with the last lot of scotties I made 10 and that could easily be done within a day maybe with a few hours if I did not stop to attend to anything else like kids, cooking and housework. It gets easier each time. I use the kids ring to draw circles. I also have a nylon slanted brush to paint the circles and it helps alot to make my circles round. And I work on a production line. I paint all wood first side. Then paint second side, paint first side again then second side again. Draw circles on 5, paint, then draw on next 5 paint, ect. So it makes my life easier. I am sure a person can easily make 20 maybe more a day without and disturbance. I will probably get my next lot of kitties this week to make. Will keep checking the mail box. Also wanted to mention that the circles drawing and painting for 10 probably took meabout half hour. Not bad at all. That is just painting and drawing of circles. Paint of wood probably took like half hr as well. Edited by: samomof3

Good to hear there is hope of speeding it up a bit. LOL when my 2 year old goes down for a nap I have about 2 hours to get any thing done and that includes the house work. So it that time and then after they have all went to sleep, but I like going to bed with my husband ya know (even if he snores ) Can't wait to get mine back to see how I did. Hopefully not too bad.

Samomof3 ~ Thanks. I didn't know there was painting involved too? Ok, so this is going to be a little more involved than I thought. I should be getting my kit in the mail this week I'm excited though. We'll see!

Question regarding payment. Does anyone know approx. how long it takes to get a check from NEC? And has anyone actually sent in more than 1 unit at a time. It seems as though everyone is sending in 10 or 20 finished items at a time. My goal is to get to the point where I can actually send in the max units per shipment.

If anyone has any insight on their experience I'd appreciate it

Hi everyone! Brand new here. I've been reading about this company but I have a couple of questions I hope someone can answer.

How many items come in a unit?
Do I pay $39.95 for each unit?

I'm sure i have more questions, but these are the most important ones right now.

When your finished pieces get to Nec by Wed they make the checks up the next Mon. I am at max on 3 projects.
A unit is 50, ea. project has adifferent max.
You pay $39.95 for ea. starter kit you wish to try.

So, as long as I keep doing the same project, I only have to pay that upfront fee once? That makes much more sense. Thank you.

That's right, the starter kit has a sample, materials to make 3 samples, and instructions. You'll have to pass inspection before you can actually make the units though.

Hi I have a question regarding the max amount for a project. Does that mean you can only make that many and then need to move on to a new project? Or is that the max in a particular amount of time? I hope that makes sense Thank you for any help!
