I have found with the felt stuff it helps to use the freezer paper to cut out the pieces. Also getting extra felt to practice on helps. I just buy it at hobby lobby or joann's, which ever I'm clesest to at the time. Walmart also sells felt. Just remember if you get the iron too hot it will melt the felt. Also make copies of your patterns and cut the copy not the original. Learned that one the hard way. Good luck on your scottie. I don't do him yet but he's next on my wishlist ![]() Debbie |

Determinedmommy, Be sure to get a glue gun with an extra fine tip. Several people have gotten good ones for about $5 at Home Depot or Lowe's.Then practice controlling your glue before your kit arrives.

Thank you all for the tips! I'm going to run out today and look for a glue gun at Home Depot. Quick question, I used to make models for train layouts, and just used a toothpick and glue. Is the glue gun just easier and quicker?
And if I run to Walmart today, do they have more than 1 kind of felt? (sorry if that's a dumb question, but I've never really done anything with crafty felt!) and since I don't have the kit yet, I don't know what they have you use. As for scissors, can I get any kind of sharp scissors? Or am I looking for a particular brand/#/etc? Any other tips are greatly appreciated! |

The felt they send is just regular felt squares. Walmart has the squares in the craft isle with the scrapbook stuff (at least that's where it is at our store). It should be in that area any way. Here the cost is about 40 cents per sheet. The other craft stores are a little cheaper.
The scissors I use I bought at the dollar store for a couple dollars. I've read that some use the cutterbee scissors. |

For straight blade scissors, The best I have ever used come from the Dollar Tree in the hair accessory Isle. They are very sharp, cut evenly and last. I use a different pair for each type of material; paper, felt, etc...( they're great for hair, too).

I don't know what's going on with the mail these days. It has been taking about 8 days to get things from here (SC) to NEC and the same coming back this way.

Sent in my 5th Kitty Magnet with a note that if it does not pass to exchange it for the wool snowman. Watch it pass this time now that I am ready for something else!

I got my check for my 2nd shipment of Carousel Horses today. I still have a problem with visible glue on the reins and ears. I'm going to practice some before the next supplies arrive. I'm determined to get to 50.
Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend! |

i just received a new "cupcake kit" (to make 3 pieces) to replace the scottie magnets i was approved on...and i am wondering if i should make one, send it in to get approved just like i had done on the scotties, or do all 3 and send them in? the paper says it is a "supply & demand" project...and pay rate is "half assembly" ...upon approval it will be "full assembly" kinda confusing...it has the little paper that i usually send in for payment after i was approved(?)
i emailed them but this is a holiday weekend...so i dont expect to hear back til tuesday...Has anyone else had a "replacement kit" before? |
