Wink Thanx, girls.

Thanx Kathy, Debbie & KimberlyD! Your tips are very helpful & encouraging. Now I know I won't pass first inspection. That's OK, I now have a better idea of what's expected. It's tough though when your sample arrives busted up & missing things. I have to say that, hot-glueing is new to me, so of course I had trouble with the glue not showing. How the heck do you do that teeny-tiny bead! LOL!

I hold the bead with tweezers, put a drop of glue on the bead, lay the glue gun on it's side, lay the bead on the glue gun's nozzle to heat it up and the extra glue melts off. Pick back up with the tweezers and put on the head (quickly before the glue dries). This has worked good for me, but it took a few tries. I had lots of practice with the angels. 3 beads on each x 50 angels = a major headache. I am getting faster though.

Hope that helps.
Debbie

kcduffer PMed me some tips. I haven't tried them yet, as I am still waiting for my test kit, but her suggestion was to take a needle and thread and stitch about 1/4" in from the edge of the crepe paper, with about 1/2" between "up" and "down" needle passes, and then just cinch up the crepe paper into the fan and trim to a good circle after gluing it.

I was also looking at the Poodle, Sitting Poodle, Scottie and Kitty magnets as possible future projects once I've gotten my feet wet with the CD cases.

They sure take their time getting the starter kits shipped. I ordered the CD Case kit March 5 and am still waiting for it.

Yes, those magnets are really cute if you like a bit of challenge. I have heard to steer away from the reindeer, supposed to be quite 'challenging' but that makes me really curious! I would like to hear from someone who does them.
For my magnets I need to get the foam cut better I have cut a LOT of foam trying to practice.
Since I already work with clay the clay projects are also appealing..

You're quite welcome

Since posting that I received my CD Case starter kit I've been walking circles around it, scratching my chin and visualizing how it will be done. One surprise - glue sticks. I didn't know we would need those too. Not a biggie - they're very inexpensive.

I also had ordered the instructional DVD and I watched it this morning. It looks extremely easy to me. The only "gotcha" point I could see was the fan-fold of the crepe paper. The one in the video didn't turn out as well as the sample I received. I think kcduffer's threading tip will work wonders with the crepe paper. I'll be doing my first sample in the next day or so and I'll be able to give you a little better feedback then.
