Hi Ann and welcome to the forum.

I have a suggestion that you might like to consider. If you'll look through the posts, you'll see that most of us use a 'handle' instead of our full names. I'll sign my posts with my first name, but keep my last name private.

Good luck with the scottie.

Kathy

I'm not sure that that's what happened to you, but it's a possibility.

Try to stay positive and use the time to figure out how to make the mlb's assembly line style, quickly, efficiently, and well. You can make multiples in less time assembly line style, but you need to figure out how. Going from making 1 to 10 and then 50 is quite a jump if you can't speed them up a little bit.

Good Luck.

Thank you for the advice. I'm sure you're right. I have no intention of giving up now. I've put too much time, effort, and money into it. I have confidence that if I just keep at it I'll get there eventually.

And I've thought about the assembly line too. I know it will go much much faster to do them this way, once approved. What with drying time and all for the paint.

I don't see how to change your username either. Perhaps you could go down to the bottom of each page and click on contact wahm.com. I hope this would put you in contact with the forum administrator who could help you with this.

Hi mtradar123,
I'm not sure if you were able to figure out the wrapping of the balls yet or not, but I didn't see where anyone else answered your question, so I thought I might be able to help. I work on the Penguin as well and have been approved on it for over a year. What I do is I use smaller pieces, stretch it by pulling it a little at a time, working your way up the piece of wool, and then just wrap the small section around the ball one way. Then take another piece stretching it and turn the ball the opposite way you wrapped the first piece and wrap the 2nd piece of wool. Continue using smaller pieces of wool and rotating the ball so you are wrapping over any 'open' areas of the ball. By using smaller pieces, you should be able to get it tight and you won't have excess wool hanging over the edges of the ball which is what makes it feel and look real loose. If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll try to explain it a little better. Just remember to keep some tension on the wool as you wrap, but not to much tension that you keep pulling it apart...also I find it easier to wrap the thread towards me instead of away from me..but you may find it easier the other way.

I'm thinking about joining the NEC program. I was looking through their projects list and noted one possible error, or I'm missing something. The project "CD Case" on their website lists the skills needed as "glue, cut, paint". However, going over WAHM threads about NEC I noticed someone mentioned sewing is required. Since I don't sew, this could be a real show-stopper and I'd like to clarify it before ordering the starter kit.

I'm looking to start out simple with "B" level projects until I build some confidence, then possibly move to more advanced ones. Can anyone either clarify the CD cases issue, or suggest a better alternative project to get my feet wet with?

Much obliged!

Sewing is involved in the former version of the cd case which is being phased out. The new version of the cd case is card stock paper, and only cutting, glueing, and painting is involved. It could be a good one to 'get your feet wet'.

Oh good. Thanks for the info. I'm feeling better about "taking the plunge" with NEC

Default Birdhouse questions

I just received my bird house for my first try. It seems like i dont have enough parts. I have the squares for the bird house but it says not to spackle the roof but there is no triangle for the roof. I also do not have the perch. Is this normal? I read that they didnt send the actually birds at first so i have to use the balls. Also it seems i dont have a hole in my bird house. Do I have to spackel that thick to make the hole? Any tips would be helpful!
