Welcome Denise,

i am a recently approved NEC newbie....my 2nd kit made it before the 1st but its gettin very close too....

the horse.....there are a few who do this one, and when ya do decide to get it or whichever you order; register on the NEC live site....that is where you will find all the help, tips...etc because you can go to the workshops, and other areas on the forum.

as far as the glue gun....when i started pretty much back in Jan....we had an entire weekend on glue guns....there were so many newbies, but the NECrs were right there to help on selection....as for me....i ended up getting the Aleene, 4 tips...dual/cordless in a case....i use the tiny tip for everythingand a cutterbee scissor....it is sharp and to the point.........
I hope i helped a little....

Good luck in whatever you select...NEC is a good co.

Hey all.....rains gone in Paradise.....WooHoo... Di

Hey Di, This isn't paradise here in KS, but it's a pretty day. However, the weather here can change on a dime.

Welcome Denise. Just some brief comments on glue guns. I'm sure the one from nec is fine. If you have a Michaels, Joann's, or Hobby Lobby around, there are always coupons for 40% off your purchase that you can use to get glue guns and other supplies, so you can save yourself a little money. The Aleene gun is a very good gun, expensive, but it's the only one you need to buy since it has 4 interchangeable tips. Since I already had a regular glue gun, I purchased a surebonder mini detail to go with it. Don't waste your money on a regular mini glue gun. They're not worth whatever you pay for them.

I would recommend going with a mini detail glue gun. For the small things you need to do it's the best. I've purchased at least three different ones and the mini detail works the best for my NEC projects. I got mine from Hobby Lobby. That would be my suggestion.

I ordered my package from NEC the scootie magnet, I thought it would be the easiest to try first. Well to make a long story short, It took me 7 hours to make one scottie magnet. Is this normal? I mean you only get paid a dollar for each magnet, so can I look forward to making 12cents an hour with this company or what? Maybe its just me, but I'm thinking it is not worth your time!!! Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

good Mon all,

I am going to chime in on this one......i don't do the magnets, but the project i was just approved on did take me a while the first time, not to mention my first try on the "toe", which i am very close on passing it....i do know that one tooka long time to do....kind of until the 4th sample....#6 is in right now....

It is trial/error......and patience. What ya need to do is now practice w/ own supplies while awaiting critiques....it does take awhile.....but worth it.

I still consider myself a beginner....i did not know one thilng from the other, and register on the NEC live forum.....that is where your help is going to be.....the workshops......

i hope this helps ya a little....

and WooHoo my first 10 lil dancers are goin to the PO shortly.....

later all , Di

Well my first 10 of the cd case are at the PO. Ran into our mailman while I was there. He said a package for me that was sent on the wrong route. Woohoo the glitter nest finally passed. I can't believe it. Someone said earlier that when 1 passes it seems like they start passing quicker. Well, 3 down - 3 to go. Would've had the nest last week if it hadn't gone the wrong route. So I have tomake up for lost time on that one. I'm sooo excited!Well I have angles to assemble and nests/birds to paint/glitter.

Happy crafting everyone
