I don't like glitter. I either use too much or not enough.

Anyone know of projects besides toe ring and the sewing ones that don't use glitter?

well, I got my 3 project inspections back. I didn't pass...but there were only two things wrong with my scottie and kitty (one being too much glitter..lol, the other was "cut neater" I don't know how I can possibly cut any neater) and my standing poodle had more issues..lol. But, I am confident that I can get them to pass the next time. At least the scottie and kitty. I am going to send them out again this week. I just sent out the standing poodle a week and a half ago, and I got it back already..so that's encouraging on the wait time. As for the carousel horse, well, I haven't heard anything yet...but I'm not too hopeful on passing on that one. I asked them if they could give me a different project (the sitting poodle) if I don't pass this time. I will let you know how it goes then.

I emailed NEC to ask what are the best projects for beginners and they said they are The tropical birdhouse, the magical lovebirds, the little drum, and the magnets.

sojourn_fan maybe you should try the drum. I think it is just cutting, sewing and gluing but not sure. justmeuc I still havenot received my kitty back but do not think I passed. Will have to give them a call because I was to have received this last week.

I'm trying to decidebetween the drum and the birdhouse. I can paint a little and I can sew a little too.

The little birds would have been okay but I know from the reindeer's saddle, that I wouldn't be able to write a nice letter on that ribbon. As for the magnets, they're cute but I've read too many posts about you ladies having trouble with them.

Inel....that's hysterical! Hairless sheep! OMG, I wonder if there's a market for them!Hey, they have hairless cats and dogs!

Are you still able to make the old style magnets too? I am confused as to why they want me to pass the old style if they are going to switch everyone to the new ones? Unless they want us to make both?

sojourn fan- the magnets aren't that difficult really. They are just picky. Once you know what they want, it is rather easy. I find making them pretty quick and it's just a matter of getting the glue bead right, correct amount of glitter, and the face. The magnets are like a walk in the park compared to the carousel horse, which I am sure is the same as the reindeer. Can't you use a stencil for the letter on the ribbon for the other project?

hi

once you pass your craft you have chosen, are they always going
to be checking your work this closely? I guess I am wondering if we
will always wonder if we are getting passed or not.

I have worked on the frum, need to make another this week, and
then try and send it in Not that difficult and I can see wehre I need
to do some thing differently.

Jo

how much sewing do you have to do with the drum joanne? I can't sew a straight line for the life of me, do you get to cover up your stitches with ribbon or felt or something else? lol

I'm sure the magnets are far easier than the reindeer. I'm going to give NEC another chance, I think now that I just picked the wrong projects to try.

Either one of the bird projects seem better for me,they look to be more painting and hot glue. Justmeuc I hadn't thought about using a stencil. That's a good idea.
