Arrow Microwave Bagel Chips

Today I had a few leftover Asiago Cheese Bagels that either needed to be tossed or transformed. I was feeling creative so I thought why not try to make some bagel chips. I figured it would be similar to making Chex Mix and I found a recipe online for making Chex Mix in the microwave so I thought I'd try using the microwave to make the Bagel Chips. It was easy & successful!

For flavor I used a dip mix from Country Gourmet Home called Spicy Salsa Blend and now that I know this works I plan on making a variety of other flavors in the future using our other dip mixes and popcorn seasonings. There are just so many flavor options!

I plan on using the Bagel Chips like croutons in my soup and as a dipping chip.

Ingredients:
3 Bagels
1/4 cup oil (I used vegetable oil)
1 Tablespoon dip mix (Spicy Salsa Blend)

Yields: 3 cups
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes

Mix one tablespoon of dip mix with oil. Allow dip mix to blend with oil for 10 minutes. While the dip mix is blending slice the bagel in half from the top down using a serrated knife. Slice each bagel half into 1/8 to 1/4-inch pieces. I used cold bagels and this kept the bagels from creating too many crumbs.
Place bagel pieces into large microwavable bowl. Pour oil/dip mixture onto bagel chips and mix until thoroughly coated. I used a large Pyrex bowl with a lid and just shook the contents until all pieces were coated in the mixture.
Cook uncovered in microwave for 8 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes.
Spread bagel chips on wax paper to cool. When completely cooled store chips in airtight container.
