HI Megan!!

That is so fantastic that you are in the jewelry business! It's an amazing business in which to be involved. The profits/commissions are phenomenal!! ~ CONGRATULATIONS ~

I've listed a few ways I have found to assist you in raising your search engine rankings and Alexa ranking

#1 Manual Submission to Search Engines (this may take a while before thay are spidered)

#2 Getting lots of Links out there to your site... you can trade links with other web owners, advertise on websites and also ask if you can have your weblink on top rated sites (most sites (if not all)will charge a fee)

#3 Make sure your site is full of keywords and that they are listed in your metatags.

#4 Include a site map to your website and make sure each page contains direct links to your other pages.

#5 Routinely change your sites wordings and pages as it signals the spiders to something new going on in your site and they will start crawling more often.

Search Engines are constantly changing their criteria for getting high rankings so there is quite a bit of trial and error in finding the nichè.

Megan,

Another trick does involve some cost but you can keep it minimal
because of the way you are going to do this.

Google AdWords....however in choosing your keywords, do not select the
ones with the most searches....that only means you have that much more
competition. Choose ones that are less popular but more UNIQUE. The
result is more targeted customers and you are more likely to rank higher
in that category because of less competition. You can actually get a much
much cheaper bid also because it is not as popular. Combine a few of the
less popular keywords into your own unique phrase and you will still pull
the results but be ranked higher on the page.

Also you really do not want to shoot for #1 rank, most people actually do
not click on that according to studies. Actually #5 or lower catches the
eye because it rests at the middle of the page where people tend to look
first.

Hope this helps.
To your success,
Kim

Kim, thanks again, you are so helpful...what do you do for a living? I will be using all of your suggestions...our business is very successful on the street here on Cape Cod, and is spreading to the Boston area, but it is the web business I want to expand, so I can be home more on the road less...I also need to invest in some software so I can update my website myself, and add many more items to it...I know there is such thing out there...

Thanks again, Megan

Hey Buddy,

The best way to do it with out spending tones of money is to start linking to tones and tones of websites in the jewllery business and have them linl back to you.

sounds difficult I know and If you do it yourself one at a time it is thats obviousley the very cheap way to do it if you have no money.

The best way to do it is to use asoftware product like SEO Elite wich does it all automaticly for you and greates the links page tofor you andrequests them to link back toyou wich they usually will its not hard to use its quite easy.

see the more the search engines spidersfind you fom other sites that arehigh rankings through links the higher they will rank you obviousley you must have good content too.

In Summary the more links to high ranking sites you have that link back to you the higher you will rank.

Here is a site with tons ofmarketing information should help you really get onyou way www.achieveyourdreams.ws

Good Luck !!

I would also suggest you visit http://www.selfstartersweeklytips.com and their forum there. Lynn Terry really really knows her stuff, and she is an incredible resource (together with the bunch that hangs out at her forum).

google is large and easy to use, but you have to watch your cost close or you could spend way more than you could make. Overture has a greate key word tool. When you pick your key words be very selective. overture gives you the estimated number of people using the words to search. first pick the high traffic words then scroll down and try to pick the 100-1000 this is the estimate for people using these words and this can help you keep your cpc bid lower. Remember there is still 100-1000 people using these words so you shoulg get some good trafic. Also make sure you read the Google tuturials! Also its a good idea to run a test ad before you go full blown. Set up one ad keep it for at least 300 or so clicks. Check it offten andtweak the ad if needed. If you haven't made any sales after 300 clicks thenit might be time to try somehting else, but I guess thats up to you. Good luck!

I've recently come across a program that helps automate the keyword seach process enabling users to refine their keywords. I believe this could be extreme value to anuyone doing ad words or adsense. I'm not an affliate of the program so I have nothing to gain by sharing this info...I just think its real cool. Cost is if I recall correctly $197.00.Go to www.GoogleAdwordsMadeEasy.com. This is my first post in this forum. I hope you all find it worthwhile.
