Default Help, studying to become a coder

Hello All! I've been reading these posts since I have decided to go back to school. I have started a program this semester and I need to interview someone with AHIMA credentials (ccs, rhit, rhia, ccs-p, etc.). Problem is that I don't know anyone with credentials! I would be so grateful if someone with credentials could answer a few short questions: 1.)short background on career path and opportunities you see for yourself in the future. 2.)Present job responsibilities and functions. 3.)What do you like about your job and how did you get interested in the profession. 4.)State name, position and credentials.
PM me please. Thank you!!!!!

Hi! I am also studying to be a coder. What course are you taking? I am taking an exam prep course. I got my HIT degree back in 2002. Would love to know how you are progressing.

You could do office work at a hospital or large medical facility - they hire often.
Try local universities and colleges - they often hire secretarial/receptionist/data processors.
Banks also hire people for data processing.

They all pay decent wages so you can pursue your real life at night!! Good luck with that.

Hi Jesse11,
I am a AHIMA certified RHIA. For the most part Ive been coding for hospitals. RN's are actually starting to take over the coding field as the medical records transitions to the electronic record. I am currently pursuing a Master's of Science in IT with emphasis in Health Information Managment. I think that this will help me remain competitive in this field. I currently work as a medical records director/inpatient coder for a LTACH Long Term Acute Care Facility. I like the field. Its definitely a stable career. If you would like to know more please feel free to inbox me.

Default need advice

Hi there, I am an X-ray tech and I have been contemplating a career change or an advancement for the next few years and after some research I learned about the BA in health informatics through WGU. I would like some opinions about the this career choice and if there is any insight from people going through this program or already working in the field. I have health care experience but no experience in coding. Will that be an advantage for me when hunting for a job after graduation? I also would like to know how much an RHIA starting salary in average. Thanks for any responses.
