I was always interested in getting certified as a coder. I would love to work from home. I had once ran a billing office for a psychiatry practice. I loved that field. I was wondering if I take a certification course, which one would I take if I only want to work for psychiatry offices?
I saw there were specializations for other types of coding (i.e. Dermatology, Cardiology, ect.) Can anyone give me a direction for a home study course that would get me the cert for me? PMs are fine by me.

You would get your general coding certification then you could get your specialty certification. Check out Medical Coding, Medical Billing - American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or www.ahima.org

I don't know how many jobs are out there for psychiatry only coding in offices. Most dr offices the doctors do the coding and assigning of E& M codes unless they are a surgical practice. You can take the specialty coding tests once you receive your CCS or CPC.
