I have to agree with Gopala, I also worked for CLC for only one week.
Yes, they did tell me upfront exactly what the job was and what I would be doing but they didn't tell me that we would be calling people that went on internet looking for job and had no interested in going to school but to get further in the process of job hunting they had to click on that they were interested in furthering their education. Another thing, if you were calling someone and it was wrong ph# then you were suppose to disposition that call as answer maching.....again, not until you do the job do you find out that when doing that it means the person continues to get called back over and over again. If it is the wrong ph# or prank ph# then it should disposition as something else. I also was told not to use the do not call too much, in my opinion if a person request that then we are to honor that and if that means I'm using it too much well so be it. I am not saying that the company is bad or a scam but these people did not go to search for a degree and sign up for additional information....it was a step to get to another section that they were interested in. The required 2 leads per hour is very hard to do when 85% of calls go to the answer machine and I do believe that if you don't meet that quota then you are let go...by CLC not adchemy...CLC is getting paid for each lead they make so they are the ones deciding when you get let go not adchemy. Gopala described it exactly the way it is!! |

This is what I had to deal with lol. Not meeting my quotas because of a lot of answer machines and not interested lol. I heard that nights and days were different with acheiving the quotas. I agree with you.

CLC is without a doubt the most UNPROFESSIONAL company that I've ever worked for in my life!!! The work is what it is...contacting people who may or may not have intended to sign up for additional information on Higher Education (we all know how they trick you on websites and have a box checked for you to request something without you even realizing it). And your job is to try to get the additional information from those people for the Colleges.
Now, with that being said, my complaint is with the people who run CLC. First of all, absolutely NOONE answers their phone. You HAVE to leave a message, and if you're having technical issues, you aren't being paid while waiting for the callback. This means that if it takes someone an hour to call you back, you're expected to work that additional hour to meet your 4 hours per day. Secondly, I unfortunately had a computer issue the very week I started with them, and had to take my computer in for repairs. They had someone call me EVERY DAY asking me what was going on, despite the fact that I had already called and left them a detailed message regarding when I would be picking my computer back up and be able to start calling again. I even received a call from Lori (the Manager) telling me that they were "losing dial time" with me not making calls. This would be different had they not heard anything from me, but like I said, I had left them a DETAILED message as to EXACTLY what was going on. However, after getting my computer back, and completing an entire week of calling (and more than exceeding their leads per hour requirements), I never heard "Good job!" or "Keep up the good work!", but instead that I hadn't billed my rate of pay on Tuesday and that I had billed them in error on Friday. Thirdly, regarding the final Friday that I worked for them, they informed me the following Monday by email that I had only worked 3.75 hours, and not the 4 hours that I had actually worked. I had no actual PROOF that they were mistaken, and when I contacted them, I was told that that was what their records showed, and that was what I was going to be paid for. I was basically at their mercy. So I was shorted for 15 minutes of my work. Now, I realize that 15 minutes is not a WHOLE lot of time, but it's the principal of the thing. How many other people have they done this to? And when I sent them my email of resignation to Lori Holt, Lori Staab, and Joe George, I heard NOT ONE WORD back from any of them. That was it. I heard ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and simply received my check in the mail. This attitude tells me, unlike what they say on their website re: "We begin as friends, and we want to end as friends", that "We don't care whether you work for us or not". And this is the exact reason that they have new people starting every few days. So my advice to you is simply to BE CAREFUL. Last edited by hifly1231; 08-18-2009 at 12:59 PM. |

Life as it was, had to be done. Grin and bare it! I worked for them. But after a while you cant grin no more. The job pays just a hair over min. wage. I would rather scrub toilets for the difference for the peace of mind. The people you call are mean. Why? They are harrased by the callers of CLC. The files are not kept up right. You recall the same people over and over. You dont the info you need for the calls. Of course they get mad. Then the company gets mad that you cant get a sale or a credit card. What they ask is unreasonable on so many levels I wont go into here.
I wasnt going to post here, I have thought about for a long time. But I hear they are getting worse... they must be hurting bad with newspapers going down all over the country, and people cant go to school, they just trying to find jobs to put food on the table. People quitting left and right. If you think you should apply because you see CUSTOMER and think... Im great with people! Love People! You wont be when you are done with this job. The company is bad and the public is terrible. Peace of mind is worth more then $8 an hour at home. You are not really free in this home job like you think. A job that could take 2 hours, may run you all day! System problems, having to log out because you are upset. NO ONE.... no HUMAN with emotions can do this job and LIKE IT. You have to be a cold robot. They just need to get a computer system to dial for them. Try it if you want. Maybe you are a robot! But DO NOT count on it being a dream job. DONT quit another job before you try it. PLEASE! |
