Cheryl, I'm not sure about DSL, but assume it would be acceptable, since most everyone has Broadband or DSL anymore. For me it's only dial up though. Most WAH jobs require high speed internet, so I hear.
Yes, you can work during the day, but CLC wants you to commit to evening dialing as well. This week I worked 2 1/2 to 3 hours a day, and some days it wasn't necessary to work evenings. The reason evening dialing is required, if you're not getting enough contacts during the day, you're more likely to get your quota met by working evenings, but no weekends are required. After you send your email to Nancy George, and she replies you can ask her any questions you have. She is very nice and will answer all of them. You might find some of the information you're asking about on CLC's site under employment. After you email Nancy, it will be a great idea to follow up with another email if you don't hear from her, and be sure to add your name and phone number where she can reach you. But you're first contact with her will more than likely be through an email. And a word of advice, be honest with her when and if you speak to her, she will not tolerate anything other than honesty. This is what CLC is all about, it's a reputable company and they intend to keep it this way. I really enjoy working for them, and the training is very intense and complete. You always have someone you can email or call anytime you have a question of any kind even after you're released from training. Edited by: Augie |

I don't like evening dialing so I try to do my dialing in during the day but you have to be flexable. If you know you're only going to be able to dial for a couple of hours during the day, you don't schedule yourself for that day. I live in the central time zone. If I'm dialing eastern/central customers I can start at 9am. If I'm dialing west coast I can't start until 11am. There have been some days I've started dialing at 9am and I'm having a terrible time making contacts. I have to stop and try again later. If I'm still having trouble I have to do evening dialing, even though I don't like it. The company feels you'll get better contacts if you do evening dialing because most people are home. I haven't found any difference but I'll still do the evening dialing if I'm having trouble so I can say I'm flexable.
They can tell what times you're doing your dialing and if you're not making your contacts or coming close and you're not doing evening dialing they will call you on it. I've only been called once and since then I do make sure I hit my contacts most days but there are some days where it's impossible. They understand that but feel it should be the exception not the norm. |

dlandry, I agree with you on evening dialing, I don't like it either. The people you can't reach during the day are usually tiredafter working and the last thing they want to hear is the phone ring; they think you are a telemarketer. I have been hung up on many times and other time the people are very indifferent. During the day they are much nicer. For me 9:00 Am till 11:30 AM is when I reach most of my contacts. I live in the Central Time Zone also and 4 to 5 PM seems to be a good time especially if your call the ETZ. But, like you I do work evenings when I haven't met my goals for that day. Still new to CLC but I find this to be a very rewarding WAH job, and a great company to work for.

The work can be boring at times, especially if you get a string of no answers. I've found that a lot of people have given their work numbers or the clients are business that have to be called during the day. I also get a lot of cell phones so it doesn't matter when you call those people.
I've posted this before, We don't answer the phone during dinner and after dinner we're selective about when we answer. If it's during a TV show we like to watch, we don't answer. If it's a name/number we don't recognize, we don't answer. I'd be one of the hard ones to reach in the evening. I also don't return calls just because your name is on my caller ID. I like you have found 9-11 a good time. If dialing east I'll start again around 2-3pm and have good luck then. My least favorite is dialing the west coast. On those days I do what has to be done and hope that tomorrow's better. It is a steady income and I can roll out of bed and work in my PJ's if I want. I can work an hour and then have breakfast. Stop for lunch and watch "Days of Our Lives" before thinking of starting again or go grocery shopping. My time is very flexable and that makes it nice. Edited by: dlandry |

You're right, this can be boring when the contacts are not answering or home. There are many cell phone and work numbers, Friday I called a lady who worked for the newspaper company I was calling for, and I didn't get in touch with her, but she called me back. I explained why I was calling and she said she worked for the newspaper I called about and she didn't order the paper, but thought her young son had oredered it under her name. Whenever I'm in my office will always answer the phone, and most time I can get the info I was calling about. I know this doesn't count as dialing time, but helps to improve you're contact #'s. I'm dreading calling thewest coast, but will do my best; we all know you can't make them answer the phone. It's pretty cool when you can work when you want, run errands when needed, and do the normal household chores that need to be done. But since I'm new, I start stressing when I'm not reaching my contacts, and then work over the hours I committed for, and then not bill for allthe hours I worked. Trying to keep my contact rate good, which is difficult when you get some bad files. Any suggestions you may have please post them, for I actually know very little, just going into my third week of live dialing tomorrow.I hope to be a good asset to CLC in the future, and the extra money will really help. |

I too will dial over my hours and not bill but only if I'm close to the goal. The other day I was so far behind I'd never catch up. I stopped and started again after dinner but didn't do anything extra. That way I did do some evening dialing but working over wouldn't have helped me any. I do TRY hard to get the numbers up there though.
I also like the welcome calls best. Anybody who's there, even the babysitter can tell you if the paper's being delivered. I've been doing more renewals. I can talk to the customer and they say I need to speak to their spouse. Waste of time. But you need less contacts for those so it does even out. Edited by: dlandry |

I'm new to the board and just came across this thread. I've emailed Nancy but it keeps coming back and undeliverable. I'm using the email address on their website.
Does anyone have a different address to use? |

I sent an email over the weekend - how long before I should hear something? I have been trying SO hard to find something. I've worked in customer service for 10 years - and have TONS of office and phone experience. I have a great phone voice and know exactly how to handle all kinds of customers. (I work for a auto dealership, so difficult customers are a daily occurence.)
Are places not hiring? |
