Default Considering Candles.....

HI everyone!

I am currently an Avon Rep but am considering doing candles as well. I have picked between two: Eclipse and Scentsy.

It is going to come down to the following factors. The first one is the most important.

I do not drive, so throwing a party is NOT feasible for me. I need to know 100% for sure that the company I represent is okay with my sales being ONLINE ONLY unless I do a fundraiser or a shopping event/exp.

What is the quota and what happens if I do not make the quota.

Side note: I actually think Eclipse sells the prettiest candles (I truly don't know if that means anything, but I just do) But I have heard good things about Scentsy (not that I have heard bad things about Eclipse) But if I am going to come out the pocket with 99.00 for Scentsy I need to be SOLD.

Thanks!

Caroline

I sell Scentsy and I love it. Main reason is because I did not want fire in my home. I didn't want soot on my walls and furniture, and I knew it would be safer for my kids and animals.

This is from our back office:

"As of September 2011, Scentsy is changing how and when we cancel Consultants who have not
maintained "current" status.
Now, Consultants who do not achieve the requirement of 150 points in PRV during at least one month in
a consecutive three-month period will lose their downlines but not their accounts. Their downlines will
roll up to their Sponsor in this case.
No accounts will be cancelled until after December 31. Scentsy will process account cancellations only
once each year, on January 1, for accounts with zero PRV points during the six-month period from July 1 through December 31.
This change in policy means those Consultants who love Scentsy but who are not able to achieve 150
points in PRV during at least one month in a consecutive three-month period can continue to sell
Scentsy. We believe this change will allow more Consultants to stay with Scentsy and make the most of
our flexible, rewarding business opportunity."

So if you don't make the $150 in a 3 month time period you will not be cancelled. If you want to grow a team then you need the $150 at least one month out of 3.

If you want more info I can give you my quick start program that allowed me to promote my first month and grow fast from there.

I joined last December and I have not had a home party yet.

Default Thanks Leigh :)

The thing getting to me about Scentsy the most is the price, I'll be honest. Especially since I know that I am NOT going to do a party. I do have someone I casually mentioned the possibility of selling Candles and he (yep a guy) said if you start doing candles let me know.

And I have heard several reps from Scentsy say that they don't do parties, so that's encouraging.

Thanks, Leigh!

This gives you an idea of a comparison:
COMPARE FOR YOURSELF:

On average the name brand candles are $19.99 for the 11 or 12 oz size which

is comparable to the SCENTSY BAR for $5.

Once you have a SCENTSY WARMER all you need to spend thereafter is $5 (as opposed to spending $19.99 each time they want a new candle or just a new scent) Also, the Warmers look so nice and don’t get covered with Soot and people don’t want to “hide” them, when traditional candles get covered in Soot people buy the lampshades/covers and sleeves to set them in, those cost a lot of money, so now your $19.99 candle is more like $45 or more because you
had to cover it up…..
Its hard to take the blinders off people when they are set in their ways with traditional candles. There’s only so much we can do to show you the benefits of SCENTSY. But, essentially, once you have a SCENTSY WARMER, our wickless candles are at least 50% cheaper than the other name brands, if not more! (and on top of that they are much SAFER!!)

SCENTSY BARS BY FAR outlasts a jarred candle. Each cube (from a SCENTSY BAR) will last 10-12 hours, depending on the scent. One entire SCENTSY BAR can last approx. 60-80 hours. Even when the wax is cooled – once you have turned off your warmer and the wax has solidified- stick it underneath the garbage can liner or put it in your clothes drawers in a Ziploc bag with the zipper open, instant air freshener!

Traditional Wicked Candle Burn times/prices:
a 22 oz candle will burn for 110-150 hours at a cost of $24.99 = $.17/hour
a 14.5 oz candle will burn for 65-90 hours at a cost of $21.99 = $.24/hour

a 3.7 oz candle will burn for 25-40 hours at a cost of $9.99 = $.25/hour

Don’t forget about the minimum “burn” times with traditional candles (usually about 2-3 hours or the candle will be ruined!) With Scentsy, there are no minimum “on” times. Simply turn on your warmer when you want the scent, then turn it off when you don’t, even if it’s only for 20 minutes!

Soy Candle Burn times/prices:
5oz. candle = $10, 40 hours – $0.25 per hour
16oz candle = $18, 130 hours -$0.13 per hour

1 SCENTSY BAR WILL WARM FOR 50-80 HOURS AT A COST OF $5 = $.06/HOUR!!!

Don’t forget about the safety aspect of a Scentsy Warmer as well. No worry of leaving the house or office with a candle left burning. No SOOT, NO WICK, NO FLAME, NO WAX BUILD UP, and most people with allergies and asthma can use Scentsy with no problems because it is only the scent that is being released.

Hi Caroline! I'm a Glow Team Member with Eclipse Candle Co. I know it's a hard decision because I was recently in your place. What made me decide was the fact that I love both candles and melts. I wanted to be able to offer a variety of scented items to my customers and I do.

As for the monthly quota, we don't have any unless you are growing your team and you want bonuses but I think it's the same for both companies (I may be wrong). I also asked my coworkers what they would like best and had them look at the different products...you know, testing the market.

If you have any question about Eclipse please let me know and I will be glad to answer them.

Just wanted to add that we are a newer company but you can certainly offer parties online. In our back office we have the option to setup virtual parties. You simply setup the party for the hostess and send emails to her friends and family and once they click on the link (in an email) they are taken to your website and are able to shop under the hostess. Simply, easy and fun!

Also, we earn 30% comission and our warmers are very reasonably priced (21.99 - 25.99).

Default Consider Candles.....

I just signed with Eclipse today! I had sent for samples and LOVE them! Today I am melting "Spice Delight" It is YUMMY! But I am sure everyone LOVES their company's scents. I like the fact that I can melt in my warmer OR burn a candle for atmosphere! Win! Win! Hope this helps!

If you have tried both products I would say go with the one you liked best...myself I did not want any soot. Good luck in your hunt.
