Default Business Idea

So, i've got a business idea. It's not a new idea or anything but I think it will do well here since I live in a large city. Anyway, my idea is to market it to the elderly, military families, vactioners, and basically anyone that is just extremely busy. Anyway, my question is where to start with marketing? What do you do? How do you market?
The company i'm looking to purchase licensing from offers marketing material, but i'm not sure they offer any ideas. I'm just in the "thinking" stages so I have called the company yet. So how do you get your "Name out there"?

The best advertising you can get is word of mouth. To get that you need to do the following things

1. Please your customers! If they enjoy your product/service they will tell others about it!
2. Insentivise your customers to refer their friends. Offer discounts, group offers, freebies, to anyone who brings along a friend.
3. Make sure they remember you! Get their contact details so you can stay in touch with them, get them to commit to coming again (depending on your business) and get to know them so they like seeing you.

In order to get your first round of customers, you might have to invest some money in newspaper ads, online ads, etc.

Hope that helps!

Hannah

Hi akilamonique,

Nice to know that you are starting a business. I really admire people who do this as it takes lots of effort and time. You can advertise in local papers or send out flyers in mail to begin with. It depends on what kind of business it is. You should definitely target the customers that are fit for your business. How about making a website and using online marketing? I cannot be too specific as I dont know what your business it but there are many channels of marketing.
