Thumbs up Avoiding scams & bad seeds **MUST READ!**

Please email this link to all of your friends who are working from home or looking to work from home. Bookmark it, send it in a message (here), print it out, frame it...whatever you need to do! I have been bumping into too many people who were taken advantage of and lost a lot of money and wasted time.

I'm hoping this is one of the most helpful threads that I've posted, so far.

We're all here because we want to have a chance at making money and so many of us can attest that it took us a few tries to get it right. I researched the current company that I'm with like an FBI detective before making the final jump! LOL

I am SO glad that I did and proud to be a part of something so awesome. I thank WAHM for helping me connect to the opportunity. However, I have noticed that some people are still "in-the-blue" about certain jobs and opportunities out there.

I just want to say that the internet is a TERRIFIC resource in helping you weed out the bad and the good and can save you SO much heartache. You'll often see me tell others that I STRONGLY urge them to do their research/homework. Educate yourselves.

Who wants to work hard to find out they're at the short end of the stick and their business opportunity wasn't everything that was promised to them? I know I don't!

Remember, they can be "affiliated" with as many organizations and associations out there as they want. That does not guarantee ANYTHING. Also, be EXTRAORDINARILY careful about BBB claims.I got stuck with a lemon from an auto dealer that had an A+ with the BBB! Come to find, about 50 other complaints were made against this very same dealership. NOTHING REPLACES DOING YOUR OWN RESEARCH. TRUST ME ON THIS!

Here's my advice/suggestion & I encourage all of you to add to it. We can ALL help each other and protect ourselves from becoming involved in dishonest opportunities.

WAHM seems to try to make this place really safe for us, but
before I took part in my current business opportunity, I *Googled* key phrases like this:

"COMPANY NAME) reviews"
"(COMPANY NAME) scam"
"(COMPANY NAME) chargebacks"
"(COMPANY NAME) legitimate"
"(COMPANY NAME) terminates"
"(COMPANY NAME) law suit"
"(COMPANY NAME) sues"
"COMPANY NAME) wrongfully terminates"
"(COMPANY NAME) overcharges"
"(COMPANY NAME) stole"

It takes about 3-10 minutes to search all of these and could be a lifesaver for many of you. Let me know what you think!

These are great suggestions for someone who needs to do their due diligence before starting anything from the Internet, not just a business opportunity, but almost anything. Thanks for this list

Absolutely! I'm so glad I can be of help. So many forget to research these companies. They get excited about what they're being told and, unfortunately, pay the price later. A few minutes of searching can lead them all in a BETTER direction.

Great post and great info!!

I'd just like to add that even if you don't find anything bad about a company/website/name - doesn't mean they're not a scam. New things are popping up all the time - maybe even old scams under different names.

Absolutely true Anni! I actually researched my current company for almost SIX months before joining. I would go back to see what people were saying about it. I literally couldn't find ANYTHING but positive reviews on their services and their business opportunity.

I'm not suggesting this to others, but just saying it was how I happened to approach my company. The previous company I had been with terminated just under 1,000 of their hardworking independent business owners and that "stung" bad, for me. Put a bitter taste in my mouth and sort of injured my trust for a little while. By this point, I was very paranoid and hesitant about taking on something new. I gave it another shot and I am so glad that I did

Definitely AvonLady--with the economy being in shambles, people are desperate and scammers and bad seeds are taking advantage of that. They are trying to sell them a scam dressed with *hopes & promises*.
