In the past to get traffic to my site, I have tried pay per click, stumbleupon, submitting to directories, etc. I've pretty much gotten away from anything that costs me money. You can share on facebook, twitter, email friends and have them email to their friends and family, post in forums, etc. all for free. As far as backlinks, I'm trying something new right now. If you go to my (new work in progress) website and click on links, you will see the company I am using. They are offering 10 free backlinks, so it might be worth checking out if you have original material you can provide with links back to your websites. BTW, I didn't get the above post either

Yes, a separate site for each niche is the way to go. You don't want to have a mish mash of topics because most of those types of blogs are not successful. Google looks for relevant content when crawling so give them what they want!
As for getting backlinks, I wouldn't use tools of any kind. Google doesn't take highly to those types of things. The best ways to get backlinks are through article marketing, guest blogging, blog commenting and you could build Squidoo lenses, etc. My favorite ways to get traffic: Facebook, SEO, guest blogging |

I would say it depends on the topic. If they are niches that would work well together and have a lot of the same target market than sometimes combining them into one website can be adventitious. If they aren't anything alike than I would go different websites.

A separate domain for each is the best way to go.Buy domains (only .com, .net or .org domains, donīt bother with other extensions) and make sure your best keyword is in the domain name,

I agree with Leisa, it depends on the niche and topics if you should do separate domains or combine them all into one.
There are plenty of ways to get traffic, If it's a static site you can create a blog and constantly update with new information to drive traffic. You can use forum signatures, twitter, facebook, organic seo, yahoo answers. There are even more ways to build links to your site. Regardless it takes a lot of hardwork along with some creativity. |

I would not say that it is CRUCIAL to have different domains for each of your niches, but I would say that it is smart. I like having different domains for each of my niches because you want to be able to create a domain for each keyword, so that you can concentrate the keywords in each of the domains.
As far as getting traffic, my favorite methods are forum posting, article marketing, blog commenting, social bookmarking, and social networking.

I agree with what Leisa stated. I do what's called cross promoting on some of my sites because I have several niches that work well together.

If you write articles, you can join free traffic system in my signature and submit your articles there. In a short amount of time, you will build backlinks like nobody's business. This website may not be as pretty as other article marketing websites that charge a monthly fee but it works just as well. Lots of value for a freebie.

Hey There Eileen,
It looks like you have gotten a lot of good advice, but I will chime in with my two-cents as well ![]() I truly believe that if you are able to tie the two niches together, you should keep them on one domain. The real key to success is getting traffic, converting the traffic to subscribers and converting the subscribers into customers in some way. This process doesn't have to be a long one, but you also don't want it to be forever and a day! So.. having more than one niche can bring tremendous success for helping out both sides of your website (if you have 2 niches on one domain) But, if they are not able to go together, it can lead people to become confused to what exactly you are trying to get across in your message and representation of your site. If this is the case, you can still benefit from both domains being hosted on the same account, just in separate folders. Don't worry if you don't know exactly what that means, your hosting provider will. All you have to do is call or email them requesting this when you set up the hosting (or reconfigure). I use hosting with ipage and they are very user-friendly with that concept. But- it is a yearly cost, and they do not offer monthly payments for hosting, so if that is not an option for you when you are starting out, I would just email or call your current provider and ask. As far as traffic, I believe guest blogging and keyword optimization on your articles are awesome ways to start generating more traffic. Another thing, articles. Google likes new and updated content on your site. That and sites linking in will be two of the biggest builders ![]() Hope all of that helped and that I added something to the replies
