Default Advice for setting up Web Design Company

I'm a stay at home mom and have worked in many different areas of work at home. On the side I have been designing business cards for friends companies and bands, tattoo artist, websites, doing Ads for a family memebers pest control company, practically Pro-BoNo, which was a NoNo (lol!) The amount of time and patience I had to spend on it was a lot and I love doing it but i need to make money. I have a good portfolio with things I have done for earlier stated work and logos and designs I have just created for fun.

What i want to do is start off offering Custom and Standard Logo Design, Ads (paper and Ads for online use), and Business Cards. How do I get this rolling and how do i determine pricing and such things?

Kellymom4, if you are planning to work strictly locally, you could just get a nice display briefcase, arrange your work in it, and start making rounds showing your wares. That's what I did in the 80's when I was doing desktop publishing from home when I had two little kids.

Having a locally targeted web site would give you more exposure, as people looking for this kind of design are naturally going to search the web. Right now I'm creating such a site for our custom home builder! He'll definitely increase his customer base by being on the internet.

The work you are proposing is EASY to do from home, online, all over the country. You needn't be geographically confined. With a good web site, you could advertise all over the place.

Best,

Alison
