Web hosting???

Need some help with finding a good web hosting company to go with???any suggestions from experience?? I've read that some ppl say stay away from GoDaddy??? I was looking for a company that offers unlimited web pages....I need 100+. Most I've seen offer 5 if they build the site for you. I could do it myself but I really dont have much experience . Any suggestions?? TIA

Indeed. Many people. I'm one of them. (I've used them as a registrar - that's a different matter. There are far too many horror stories around about their hosting for me to dream of ever hosting there).

Fat Cow is recommended for hosting by Alison Moore-Smith (who often posts here, knows a lot about these things, has enormous experience, and anything recommended by her is a really good recommendation).

Hostgator is very widely recommended throughout the internet marketing community and has a great reputation for customer service.

Blurstorm is (usually) top-rated overall by the independent review site called Web Hosting Jury. I've used them myself and can recommend them. They're nice people, too.

I did not like GoDaddy because of its limitations and inability to accomodate what I needed even though they "said" I should be able to do it! It made something that should be easy far too complicated.

I use Host Gator. Link is in siggy. They have some nice unlimited plans and all of the functionality I could ever need.

I've heard to stay away too...too much fine print with GoDaddy from what I understand. I have heard Host Gator is good. I use Just Host for my blog and my forum but not my store....Just Host is good so far..no troubles and when I needed anything they are always available. Good Luck.

I have several hosting companies I use and recommend, but my newest favorite is MomWebs.com for their reliability and support. There are probably hundreds of other good companies. One thing to always ask about it uptime... actual uptime, not guaranteed uptime.

The "5 pages" is just the number of pages the designer will set up, it's not the limit to how many pages you can have. Hosting limits involve how much space you have on the server and how much bandwidth you can use. Most starter hosting packages will be plenty of space for you and with most companies you can easily upgrade to the next level package if you need more room or more features.

Godaddy is where I get all my domain names but I only host with hostgator. Their prices are awesome and the customer service is superb. Also, they provide text and video guides on almost any subject, so if you get stuck on anything, you are not on your own. If you only have one website you can start out on their baby plan and if you grow and have more sites you want to host, you can easily upgrade and not have to worry about moving your existing sites or anything like that.

Most of the time I register my domains with 1&1. I don't like their interface at all, but once you get used to it, it's fine. Their prices are good and I've never had a problem. (I switched all 100-ish domains I own to 1&1 a few years ago when GoDaddy started playing the skanky advertising card.)

Most of my hosting is done on FatCow, although we still serve some of our own sites. I've been very pleased with their hosting and their customer service is very good -- although sometimes you have to get past the initial, scripted Joe who shows up first.

When you say "unlimited web pages" are you just referring to multiple pages on ONE site or multiple, one-page sites?

I hadn't heard of fatcow until now but their offer looks pretty good and the reviews are great. I think I might give them a shot. Thanks for the info. Always enjoy reading your posts/replies

I use godaddy for domain names but I don't recommend for hosting. They don't have c-panel and their are lots of other restrictions compared to others.
