I think many people expect too much too soon also. To build a business and maintain a business requires you to treat your business like a business! That takes both time and effort consistently and repeatedly!
I agree 100%

most businesses, online or not fail because the owners easily GIVE UP.. without innovating, without planning, without reconstructing... if they can sell it, i know we can too..

business is such a field where atleast one confrontation with failure is obvious...but most often many tend to loose hope after failure...that becomes the main problem

I can't speak for all business, but I feel that people fail in Affilliate Marketing, which I feel should be the easiest form of earning onlinem, because of lack of leadership. They are recruited into this that and the other business being promised riches beyond their wildest dreams, if they just plop down the $69.95 to get started.

Newbies get excited at the prospect of making so much money and pay the fees, then they are left stranded. The sponsor goes on to recruit the next newbie without teaching the one they just got how to successfully advertise and market; the newbie doesn't know all this stuff, so they may try some misguided attempts at advertising. When they realize what they are doing isn't getting results, they get discouraged and quit, making them the prime target for the next recruiter to come along.

I was that newbie, the only difference it that I was too hard-headed to give up. Since its taken me 7 long and hard years to actually understand what is going on, my mission now is to come up with an organization that can train newbies interested in affiliate marketing on how to market, regardless of the business they are in; then, once they learn the right techniques and see results in their own business, they can turn around and become a mentor to other newbies.

I have to agree with responses. People want to work at home and they think well if I start a business I'll instantly be making money because I won't have to worry about finding a job and getting paid from an employer. Not true at all. Not that you won't or can't make some money in a short amount of time. but I think people are expecting to get the results from what most scams advertise...make thousands a week overnight. In order to make a business succeed you have to be in it for the long haul imo. of course each business is different and some dont desire a long haul but want to start a business and sell it...for that business plans are necessary..imo. and can i add one more thing that i REALLY REALLY think people forget about....CUSTOMER SERVICE. i do not want to buy from someone unless I get the customer service i deserve. i don't expect you to have to spend a ton of time with me (depending on the business) but i expect to be help and to be treated with respect. people who are starting a business need to remember to treat others as they would want to be treated. just my two cents...lol

Smile I agree

Personally, i think the problem is when people easily give up,, a business owner should be ready to face the consequences of his actions. the problem with some people, (and i used to have done the same in the past), is that they think about positive outcomes. that is not a bad idea. the thing is, you should not forget that there will be times that we will make wrong decisions. when that time come, accept it and think of a way to make everything better.. that is what Plan B is for..

thanks..

I think one of the major reasons is lack of advertising and not being fully prepared.

Online businesses are too easy to jump into with all the templates there are out there. People come up with an idea and run with it not fully understanding the rest of the business principals and the work involved.

Lack of advertising is a huge factor to me.

I've read many sample business plans that have a paragraph or two on their advertising/promotion and have asked many others what they do for this area. Many answers are quite bleak and some just don't really know what it is.

I wrote out 4 pages on this in my business plan I'm writing now and that was just off the top of my head and it only took twenty minutes.

I do agree that those people who are sponsor (versus recruiting.. big difference!) are responsible for taking the time to teach those they sponsor.

Generally speaking, to sponsor someone means to take that person under your wing and make sure they can fly on their own. Recruiting is just the opposite. Recruiting is the 'sign 'em up' mindset.

At the same time, it is also your responsibility to do your research when looking for a company and sponsor. Your success is ultimately yours, not your sponsor's.

If you're brand new and your sponsor leaves the business, go upline in your organization and find someone who will help you or find a mentor outside of your company that can help.

It is up to the professionals to lead, to set the example, whether they are in your company or not...

If you're a network marketing professional, you are in a 3 - 5 year plan, period.

Most performance-based professions in traditional business, from insurance to investments is a 3 - 5 year plan just to get established. Network marketing has a much better plan in that can create long-term financial security in 3 - 5 years.

When doing your research on the web, your common-sense will tell you whether or not the fancy splash page with the shiny sports cars, wads of cash and guy on the beach with shades and the bleached smile is for real or not.

Most businesses fail because people don't want to put the work that is needed, or are not patient enough. It takes a LOT of hard work and TIME to make a business successful.

because people want quick cash without putting money in and they just don't put the hours in in the beginning when things are tough to get it going.

also lack of knowledge is a big one for sure. i read a lot of posts by newbies on different forums and it's amazing the different things they are trying to do to make money online.

my advice get educated and work your tail off, you can sit back and relax later when the money is coming in but when you get started you got to work work work
