Patty, you are so right! People tend to run the other way when you are constantly trying to promote. I think many people, including myself at tmes, tend to forget that social media marketing is about socializing and making connections with people.

Default twitt what? errrrr

well i have to say that I did not even start touching this subject. I should know becouse I work as an SEO person and I run a few websites of my own.
But I have a feeling that around 70% of the whoha that exist on the net is basicly just whoha.
Good marketing and thats all.

I never really got twiter, I still do not understand if its real or if its just a huge publicity thing to collect more of our info and what we like, and who are we connected to.
If they didn't get you on face book, twiter may just be the last piece in the puzzle.

I use Twitter and don't have very many followers but will admit, they are in my areas of interest. Also, I use Twitthis to share something I'm reading that maybe others might be interested in. I get about 3-5 followers a week and some are good while others are totally unrelated. Also, being a writer online, having my site url in my profile helps me get new followers plus all the tweets show up on linkdin, FB and my other social sites. if you want to be noticed, Twitter is a good platform.

TweetDeck is great! If you want to get twitter then use this because it's really cool and I just started using it. When I first had twitter I didn't know how to do it and didn't do much with it so I quit it but now that I am using it again it's making more sense. I think there ought to be an online course for twitter users to be able to have for free. It's not complicated and it's really a cool way to meet people and learn about things without reading a whole paragraph. People should not over tweet. I follow someone and it's annoying how many tweets he has everyday. Why do that? I only follow because some of it is interesting but most is not so I might stop following. I only did because they followed me first. You have to follow others to get followed. And I don't tweet much. Infact it's not often enough. But I don't want to tweet something pointless.

Twitter is cool for some people but for me starting out I received a lot of spam from people because I starting following a lot people that just wanted to advertise their product. Now I'm starting to follow friends and friends or friends, the same technique I use with Facebook and I receive a pretty good response using facebook.

I would also recommend using Tweet Adder - demo mode is free.
