Hi ![]() I'm a new memberneeding advice. I have looked around some but I'm kind of overwhelmed. I just had a baby last month and I have 2 older children (2 & 9). I wold like to work from home (obviously LOL) but am not sure what would best suit me. I'm in NY, have customer service experience in a government position and can type pretty well. I don't know what I would do with my two younger kids while I worked if I got a job involving phone work. Any ideas, advice? THANKS!!! Joann |

Hi Joann! There are soooo many options! First, do you want a job or a business. It sounds like you have a lot of experience that would help you get a job (they are competitive). Check out the telecommuting folder for more info. A business is also flexible, but you are in control. My advice is to follow your passion. Focus on what you love, what you know and what feels right. That doesn't help much, does it? What are your hobbies? Interests? Talents? Skills? Let's start there. Debbie I want to work from home but don't know how class starting soon!

Well, I actually ENJOY typing, being on the computer. If I could just sit and type all day I would love it LOL I make cards, rubber stamping and that but to do something really nice is very time consuming. Love reading and talking to people, any kind of office work. I also sell on ebay, just collectables that I've stopped collecting but I've been pretty lucky with that. I can also write pretty well when I have to. I did good in my English and Lit clasees in college (not that you'd know it right now LOL). I thought about daycare here but my husband doesn't get home from work until 2 a.m. most nights and thought it might be unfair to him and I think I'd like to deal with grow ups for a bit each day since I live in the country. Does any of this help at all? I'm still poking around but there's just SO MUCH info on this site I don't know where to begin. THANKS SO MUCH! |

Hi Joann, Welcome. Follow your passion. Since you like being on the computer, and have some experience with eBay, that may be a place to start. Ascertain if it is a WAH JOB or a WAH BIZ you are after. Don't rush, just do a stocktake of what you like to do (and what you don't like), and what are some realities you have to work around (eg. kids, schedules, income, etc...). There's always"manythings" that will suit you, and the key is to evaluate and find the something that click with you. Regards, Tim |

Look around my blog and site.. I offer alot of tips and ways to earn an extra income from home.
Its really nice to be able to work from home so you can stay with your baby.I love hearing that your trying to find a option besides warehousing your child in a daycare!!! We raise our own children. We work hard and play hard so its so much more worth it. I love the fact that you dont miss the important things in life with your child. you should also check out the www.danijohnson.com site for free training. |

I also recommend the telecommuting folder, I looked at it initially but didn't have the experience. Sounds like you do, you just need to check out the jobs frequently because I think they go pretty quickly. You can also sell your stuff on ebay (which is so easy), or even start your own website and sell your stuff. And like you've also heard, check out sig.lines for other business opportunities.
By the way, congrats on your new baby! I'm expecting my third any day now, I'm excited! Good luck, Julianne

First, I think you need to decide weather you want a WAHJ(Work at Home J.O.B.)or HBB(Home Based Business) I personally believe that is the 1st step in deciding what you want and need to do. With a WAHJ you work for someone else and work on their terms. It's basicly a J.O.B. but you do it from home. You should NEVER have to PAY for a WAHJ. With a HBB you work for yourself. YOUR terms. Most of the time there is a investment required. You do have a better chance of getting RESIDUAL I.N.C.O.M.E though. After deciding which you would be best at, You should add your intrest and skills. Hope I can be further of help!!!
