I know this is a board for indie candle makers so I thought this news would maybe be interesting to you. I received a merchant newsletter today that Yankee Candle was sold for $1.4 billion, including $300 million in debt. I hope to see some of you ladies in the news like this someday, maybe without the $300 mil in debt!!! smileys/smiley36.gif

Oh WOW that's crazy! I'm really surprised to see a company that size that has been around for that long be in debt so far. Apparently there was some bad management going on if they let it go that far.smileys/smiley36.gif

This is major news, and could mean some serious changes for the company. You never know where quality is going to go once it's sold, of if the company goes belly up completely. Very very interesting, and I'm definately keeping an eye on this!

Wow! I just ordered some of their candles from a High School fundraiser. I hope this won't effect them fulfilling these orders. It would be a real shame for the school.

Sorry to get off topic, but why is this folder only for Indi candle co?

Because there are other folders for those in direct sales and selling candles made by other comapanies. Each direct sales candle company has it's own folder. This folder is for us who wish to discuss techniques and ideas for making unique products.

Also, there are many who wish to start making their own or buy wholesale from individuals rather than just sell from large companies. They wouldn't get the response they needed from a specific company folder, since the reps there don't make the candles. Although we've had a heck of a time as it is keeping the spam out lol.
