hey all - this has begun to be problematic for me - getting in and out in a
reasonable amount of time.... In what ways fo you coach the hostess to
ensure that the spa is underway at the stated time on the invitation...
What I've run into is a lot of visiting in the beginning - eating food,
talking..etc.... I do the show of hands treatment as people arrive, but
often a 7:30 spa doesnt get going until 8 pm..... Any advice?!?!I thought
of asking the hostess to serve food after the spa and just do drinks ahead
of time..... What do you guys do?

I have the same problem with spas that serve food. I ask everyone of my hostesses NOT to serve any food or even set it out until the spa is over. Some listen...some don't. But for those that do, I've found that their spas are more successful (higher sales) and they are completed in a more timely fashion.
So all I can say is to insist that your hostess follow 3 rules...no children, no pets, no food.
I hope others have ideas too.

I put it in the invite please be on time. The Spa will start at 7:00pm. And I give a gift to the person that is there first. Also I have it in the Hostess packet and tell the hostess when I get there that we will need to start it on time. That works for me.
I hope that helps.

I was just looking on Kantosteam.com and I found a good idea for you!
" I have a label on each of the Spa invitation postcards that reads (If you want to enjoy a Hot Spa Mineral Foot Soak arrive 15 minutes early and bring a bath towel)"
She says it makes them come early. I know a lotof people dont do the foot tubs anymore, but maybe this would be a good idea!
hugs,
Megan

Hi Ladies! I too have had this problem way too much. Just last week I had a Spa on a week night and the lady lived 90 min. from me, I had no idea where I was going, and it seems that none of the guests did either. At one point all "4" (yes I drove 90 min. for 4 gals and 2 kids under the age of 3) were on their cell phones and gving directions! The grandmother ended up being 1 1/2 hours late, so I had to do a one on one with her after the ladies were all finished! Good thing I did, she bought a lot of items and loved it!
The food has been a problem too, these women head straight for the food! Who could blame them! smileys/smiley17.gifBut it does drive me bonkers too. I like the idea from kantos team, but I do not want to start the foot soaks, anyone have any great ideas on how to revamp that with a different spa treatment? I heard there are some new and great things coming out next month, maybe I could incorporate one of them.
As for the idea, "no kids, no dogs no food" I love it! It would have truly helped at a recent SPA.... the hostess informed me as I was walking in the door that her husband was not home from work yet, so we would have to "deal" with the kids during the Spa, I thought "oh great, here we go again!" Then from around the corner comes Cujo aka Daisy who proceeded to follow me around the whole time I was there with his nose in my behind. Then there was the food everyone was eating while I was trying to do hand massages. They would try to juggle their plates and drinks, but the topper was when I stepped on something while massaging a ladies hand, I tried to be cordial and simpley flip it out from under my foot, but it flipped onto the top of my other foot, (I do my SPA's barefoot) and there it was , the culprit, a big chunk of cauliflower and it was now sitting on my foot. So in one night I had it all, kids, dogs and food!

christy, I can relate, this summer I had a spa w/6 adults, 3 around 13years, and 3 small children. While 4 boys played (jumping on beds it sounded like) in the bedroom. The kids were running to the food while the adults weretrying to relax, and of course how can u notlet the"little girls" experiment with some of the treatments. (lotions, eye pads, and feet) The mothers were watching withthose"how dare you" eyes. I vowed never will I let this happen again......I now put on my hostess sheet, noone under 16years, pet sitters and babysitters will be needed for your guests to enjoy themselves. If I walk into a place and it has the same things going on I will simply state what was on the letter, that i cannot do the spa at this time. Anyone who is there will enjoy the food and children whether i am there or not!

I got this idea from a Seminar a few weeks back and I can't wait to use it. When you send out your invites for the party include a raffle ticket for the 'on time' drawing. Any guests that arrive by the set time get to add their ticket for a chance for a prize. They also suggested adding a 'bring a friend' ticket so they get to double their chances.

I LOVE the ON-TIME drawing and the Bring a Friend extra ticket!
Here's what I say in my Hostess Letter - I hope it helps.
HOSTESS INFORMATION
Please Do Not Cancel
Unless there is an emergency or poor weather conditions, please do not cancel. This is how I earn my income and I hold just two SPA ESCAPES per week. When your SPA ESCAPE holds on the Original Scheduled Date you will receiveBeautiControl's exclusiveHerbal Neck WrapFREE! ($25 value)
Time Frame
Your SPA ESCAPE will take approximately one hour plus the amount of time I need to fill orders and answer questions (usually 30 minutes). Please ask your guests to arrive 15 minutes early and stay for the entire SPA ESCAPE. I promise it will be well worth their time.
Who to Invite
Invite friends and family that are STRESSED! (That covers just about everyone!) Invite people interested in relaxing and learning the importance of proper skincare and are willing and able to invest in themselves.
How Many to Invite
For a one-hour ESCAPE, it is completely comfortable for eight guests. I suggest inviting20 guests. We can then be assured there will be eight in attendance. Should more than eight attend, I will adjust the ESCAPE to accomodate everyone.
Children
Please ensure that all invited guests are over the age of 12. The SPA ESCAPE consists of pampering, relaxation and an hour of peace and quiet, so alternative childcare arrangements are recommended. Simply tell your guests this is also a safety issue. There will be candles, hot water and dim lighting. All eyes will be covered with eye pads and it will be impossible to watch children.
If children must be present, please have a non-participating person watch them in an area of your home where there will be no distractions to the SPA ESCAPE. I promise it will be worth it!
What to Wear
Anything comfortable, but not dressy! Sweats and P. J.'s welcome. Little or no makeup.
Outside Orders
Please get five outside orders prior to your SPA ESCAPE and I will have another special gift for you! Plus, this will help you to reach your party goal to receive your free products!
Forms of Payment
I will have the products available for purchase to take home that evening. I accept all forms of payment: check, cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
Refreshments
If you choose to serve refreshments, I recommend keeping it very simple (grapes and bottled water - like a day spa) and serve after the SPA ESCAPE when I am collecting orders.
Thank You!
Thank you for booking a SPA ESCAPE! I love what I do and you are going to see first hand why I love BeautiControl! I would love to have you on my team, so watch what I do and see if it might be right for you too.

Tierra, that is a great hostess letter!
When do we stop giving prizes though. I know this how we get $$ but sometimes I am giving way too much though.
darcy& nbsp; P/S may I borrow some of your letter?

instead of the foot soaks for those who arrive 15 minutes early, you
could do the organic enzyme body masque or the fango seaweed
scrub/masque. just give them each small amount and a makeup sponge to
apply to their nose cheeks and forhead - they don't need to heavily
coat their whole faces. then they can rinse their faces five minutes
before the spa starts. it shouldn't be much work and most likely you
will only have 2-3 people that arrive 15 minutes early.

Darcy, of course you may use my letter. Anyone is welcome to use it and adapt it to your style.
What I have started doing is taking a new neckwrap and putting it in a clear drawstring bag. I break up a set of minis and my hostess gets one for getting me her guest list (because I mail the invitations for her) and one for reading her hostess hints.
When I thank my hostess and present her with the neckwrap it looks nice packaged up and its more like a gift. It is also special because it belongs to her and no one else has used it.
You can also throw in the bag that the mini's come in. Everyone loves our cute little bags!
I value the mini's at $5 each, so my hostess is getting $35 free just for having the spa. Then I mention the skin care at 50% off and go over the Hostess program.
You could also use the Show of Hands Sample cards, Extreme Repair Sample Cards or 1oz size, Sample of Therapeutic Bath Minerals, etc. The items in the Spa Express Kit are great to use too! Don't you just love the baby eye pads?! I love mini's!
You don't have to spend a lot of money to make your Hostess feel special.
