Okay, my question is....Do you guys charge a certain shipping, like shipping will be x amount if your total is between x and x. Or do you have a set price per product that already has shipping included. If any one would be willing to share there pricing stratagies with me I would greatly appreciate it. Right now I think I am losing money on my shipping!!! Thanks

Jenn,
Sure we will help you! smileys/smiley36.gif I, myself, just have one set price with the shipping and tax included. This works easier for me but you can do it either way that works for you. My hubby takes candles to work for me to sell and it works easier with the set price instead of him having to mess with the shipping and all. lol........Don't want to confuse the hubby! smileys/smiley4.gifI hope this helps some Jenn!

That is exactly the reason I want to simplify, my hubby takes them to work too! However, my dilema is that I am not sure what to charge for shipping...My jars I have figured out, but the rest I am not suresmileys/smiley5.gif

Hey Jen!

Since shipping is variable depending on where you are located, the best
thing you can do is determine what your personal shipping costs are. to
do this, take the receipts of your last 5 or so (Not more than 1 COTM
order) and add up the shipping totals. Then divide by the number of
orders to get an average cost.

I found that my shipping is usually about 10% of the order total,
sometimes being a little less. So what I would do if I had a home party is
charge people 10% for their shipping.

Here's how to figure out the percentage on shipping after you get the
average of your shipping costs:

Say that your average shipping cost is $25.00 and the average of your 5
orders is $200. You would set up an equation like this:

100(avg. cost of shipping) = x(avg. order total)

--and that would look like this:

100 (25) = 200x
2500 = 200x
2500 divided by 200 = 0.08
x= .08 or 8%

So in this case, my 10% shipping would be a little high, but 2% off is
pretty close!

If this is totally confusing, PM me and I'll call you, ok?

If you are charging people the MRSP, you shouldn't lose money even if
you don't charge for shipping- our profit margin is pretty large. I never
charge customers S&H on cash & carry items that I have on hand, and I
still make a great profit.

HTH!

All the best,
--Kitt

That is what I brought up to my hubby last night...I don't charge s/h on anything I have on hand...Even though I obviously had to pay shipping, they tend to look at me confused if I say here's your candle and I am charging for shipping!

You are absolutely right, I am not REALLY losing anything!

I have looked over one of the order forms added to some of the online groups. There is a shipping scale on that...I guess I can try to adjust it to what would be appropriate for me here in SC. I like the form and it is perfect for retail and party settings. I will also go over what you said Kitt and see which works out the best! Thanks for the info!!!!Edited by: jenn1120

Hey Jen,

I have found out that shipping on the 6 jars is a little more than buying a dozen... For me, it runs about $1.60 per jar when I order 6 and when I order 12 its about $1 .

It hasnt stopped me from ordering the 6.. but I figure in that my cost on the candle is $9.50 plus $1.50 with shipping. I then adjust my prices accordingly.

For instance I have special pricing for the people my husband works with, then another for shows. I have my resellers license on file so that helps. I dont pay tax on the MSRP.

I take a little less for the people at my husbands work as they were Yankee fans, but I knew they would be repeat customers if I treated them right. smileys/smiley1.gif
