Hi all,
Well, I am going to to the church craft fair. After being chastised for my earlier comment (which will certainly not be repeatedsmileys/smiley2.gif), I am not going to do any more prejudging of the attendees! It isn't my church, so I won't know many people (if anyone).
So what sells at these types of events? I rep for Sensaria; we have spa-grade bath, body and skin care products. I am going to have some travel-sized lotions for sure, and some bubble baths, but what else? Should I concentrate on body products and skip the skin care? Should I bring only the less expensive items, and let them order the rest?
I'll be offering free hand massages to bring people in, and I'll doa drawing for a gift basket. Anything else I should do?
TIA!

I agree, skip the skincare. If you can't demo it, it won't sell since it's personalized to the individual. Book facials for those who ask about it.
Do you have scent samples? Or at least something in each of the scents you carry?
Order forms, flyers, business cards (stand in front of your booth or table & hand them to everyone who walks by!).
With the business cards, trying "spritzing" them with a fragrance! smileys/smiley2.gif
For those who've asked me for catalogs, I've had them sign up for my newsletter (name, address, ph.# and/or email - some way of contacting them!) before I would hand one over!
Make sure that anything you sell or give away has your reorder sticker/label on them.
Good luck!

Put together an inexpensive giveaway and have people complete drawing slips with their contact info. Ask them (on the form) if they're interested in getting specials/deals, hosting a party, fundraiser, etc., or learning more about the opportunity. Fairs are just as much about making contacts as about making sales.

Laura, I just want to apologize if I hurt your feelings or if you felt like I was giving you a hard time about the "comment" on the other thread. I was just joking with you about it in my post but like you said, you can't hear tone of voice on a forum so there was no way for you to tell other than the LOL's and :-)'s I put in.
I think you are great for going ahead with the craft fair and I know you will do well. As Gina, I think, said, spa is hot right now as is taking better care of ourselves so I think you havea great product to show!
As I said in my other post, stay positive about it like you are now and you will have people gravitate toward you because of it. People want to be around happy and positive people, it makes them feel good too. And you definitely have a product to back up feeling good!!
Make your display cheerful and elegant. Make sure you have plenty of business supplies on hand and your giveaway is a definite keeperbecause of being able to collect info from people to follow up with.
Have fun!!! I know it will be great!! God Bless!

No, you didn't at all! In fact it was a good reminder to watch what I say...even though I might mean something tongue in cheek it is easy for it to be taken the wrong way! I should also mention here that I work at a church, and if it wasn't for the group of people mentioned previously smileys/smiley1.gif, nothing would ever get done!
The fair I am working has a choice of a 8 foot long table or a freestanding booth. What should I choose? A table might be easier to display stuff, but I want to attract people into the booth so I can talk to them. I've never done a fair before so I am not sure how I should display. I don't want something really elaborate, but I would like to attract people and look professional. Should I have a banner made up or is that overkill?
I am thinking ofputtingfour or fivebody butter sample jarsin pretty organza bags,as an inexpensive stocking-stuffer I can sell for a couple dollars. Of course my business card will be in each one.

I will be vending at a church holiday/fair this month (Warm Spirit spa products). I am going to do the the organza bags as well. Let us know how it went. Edited by: sisterceo
