I know some people dont use things such as eyelets, brads, etc anything other than paper and stickers because they've been taught that everything else is unsafe. Of course this is an individual preference for some but there are ways to make layouts using what I call "fake" embellishments. I have used strips of paper to make "fake" ribbon when I dont have "real" ribbon that matches, cardstock and a silver pen to make metal embellishments I don't happen to have on hand or that I've seen online that I've not purchased yet.
I just wanted to say to NOT limit yourself to one product line because of the fear of rust or marks on your page protectors or pages. If your books are stored propperly and are using acid free, lignen free products, you should never have a problem.

Good advice! I love embellishments! I use them on just about all my pages!

Oh and I don't mean to offend anyone if this does. I've had many people come to my crops and practically having a heart attack because I use metal embellishments. I then ended up teaching a class on making your own NON metal embellishments.

My scrapping style...I buy a lot of supplies, because I just know I have to have them, or else, and then I spend a lot of time going through everything I have. This, while enjoyable, is not very productive. lol But, that's my style!

My scrapping style... I want to get albums done. I love to play with all the embellishments, but it feels so good to get albums completed too. Some pages are pretty, others are very simple.
CM has some great tools to get pages done quickly.

My scrapping style varies--I am willing to use anything in my books--if
I think my LO needs eyelets, brads, metal charms or ribbon slides, I
bring it on!! It also will depend on whether I am in an "arty"
mood or a "get these pictures in my album" mood.
I always remember those old scrapbooks from when my grandparents were
young--anything went into them and the albums are still around
today--yellowed but readable. I think a few metals are OK--same
with ribbon, chipboard, paint and ink. smileys/smiley1.gif
