Okay, I just started a new site with a message board about a month ago.
I've submitted the URL to all the search engines.
I'm advertising the site with a clickable banner in my siggy in all the message boards I already go to.
I've posted fliers around my area.
I'm advertising the site with Google Adwords.
I only have 10 registered users on my message board in a month's time.
Would you consider this a failure? Is there anything else I could be doing to gain users? I'm not selling anything. Simply looking to find others in a similar boat looking to share advice.
Any input or advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I would not consider it a failure. In only a month's time you have that amount of users? It might not seem like a lot but for a brand new site... I think that is pretty good. It really does take a lot of time to get a site out there. Keep it up!smileys/smiley2.gif

I agree with scadesigns. Sometimes, it depends on your objective of the message board. Are you targetting to the right users? 10members by just doing what you have said is not bad. Furthermore, search engine needs time to put your site to a better position.
Always think why users will visit your site. Start from there to channel your marketing.

your site is very nice, I am joining now. Do you have 'stats?' I mean, are you able to see how many people come to your site? Because the hardest part of a message board is starting it up, you may be getting alot of people, but if the board dosent look active, they may not join. You may want to get a few friends and thier friends to come join and 'start' the board, get a bunch of good topics going to intice people to join. I know it seems like a backwards way, but it works.

In fact, word of Mouth is always the best way of marketing. Proven to work in almost all industry.
You can use Google Analytics for your traffic stats. Give you pretty lots of options to learn about your clients.

If it makes you feel any better I looked at your site and was impressed that somewhere in the past few weeks have actually been to your site. My point is, your advertising is working... smileys/smiley2.gif

Thanks, everyone, who's taken the time to reply to my post!
Any advice on other ways I could advertise to drive more traffic to my message board?
Thanks!

The best way is to get your board active and try to go to different forum and advertise using your signature (for free ads).
You may also hire people to drive in traffice for a monthly fee. However, just be aware of the many scam out there. Some use bots to drive traffic and are not genuine visitors.
Speak to your own network and start inviting people with same interest to join you.
It never take days to build up a board.:)

New sites always take time! It usually takes about 6 months to get your site traffic to a "Baseline" level. From there it takes more time to really become established. Be patient. There is no such thing as "launch it and they will come" on the web. It takes constant tweaking, marketing, and monitoring to become a success.
