Supportive husband seeks advice: My wife and I have been on the fence the past two weeks as to whether or not we would jump on the Arbonne bus or not. She has tried the products and can see marked results after using them for 5 days. Although she loves the products, she is more interested in the business side of the equation. My wife went to a presentation the other day and came home pumped up about joining, but then we have an equal number of people tell ing us they wouldnt tough it with a ten foot pole. Neither of us has ever done any type of business like this before. Both of us are currently working and just seem to be living paycheck to paycheck. We also have a new little one that is keeping us busy as well as financially stretched. She would like to be able to contribute more to our income, but just doesnt know what avenue to pursue. As you can imagine, we are a little apprehesive about doing something new. One of our main concerns is being able to find people. We dont live in a very populated town, and the economy isnt really hopping here. One of the people we were thinking of trying to sign up that lived in another town, called us the other day and tried to sign us up. We felt like we had lost a good prospect then. It seems like there is a fairly good initial investment($2K) to purchase 6 or 8 pups to get our business off the ground. If fact we would have to borrow that money. Plus we were told that we would have to purchase $65 of product each month to get a check. I have searched all over the net today trying to read as much as can. I have reada few of the EOA articles, and they seem encouraging. How do folks with no experience in this type of business make it work and work quickly? Do you need to target a specific type of person? Income/age/ect? I assume that most of the consultants out there are women; what is the best role for the husband? Cheerleader? I guess we need to hear that pep talk again and should probably sign up for some training as well.

First of all, you don't have to invest $2k. The account is $29 to open and you can choose what you can afford to invest. Do not let anyone tell you that you must invest thousands of dollars, it is not a requirement. However, if you want to move quickly, and you have great prospects lined up, it may be a great benefit for you. Just know that it is not a requirement.
The 45 Second Presentation That Will Change Your Life by Don Failla is a GREAT book and will explain mlm perfectly. You can order this book from www.soundconcepts.com (http://www.soundconcepts.com). They have the most recent copywrite of it, whereas Barnes and Noble and Amazon did not.
It is advantageous to target your prospects, but sometimes you just never know who will be interested and who won't. Never prejudge in that way.
Also, for men, I came across a business call for Men in Arbonne given by a certain Nation or Region, I am not sure who. But here is the number and times of the calls-- 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 10pm EST 347-534-1700 ext 2459
take care,

HI! I just pm'd you but forgot to mention that you yourself don't have to buy $65 worth of products a month to get paid. You can sell that much ($100 retail value)per month and that counts too. That confused me when I first started so just wanted to make sure that you weren't confused! smileys/smiley1.gif

First, I want to echo everything Cassandra said. You do not have to invest that much money if you cannot afford it. You want to invest enough to be serious but not make you nervous. In a perfect world you would be able to invest enough to buy several demo sets but not all of us can afford that. Yes, it does help & makes things go faster but people do it with less investment. I couldn’t invest that much when I first started & was able to build my business up slowly until I did have a good investment. Also, your upline will be able to work a plan with you for whatever investment amount you can make. Also, you totally need to get the book Cassandra mentioned, it will help a lot…especially if you don’t plan to go the party route but instead use demo sets. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
As far as people telling you they wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole….never take advice from people who aren’t where you want to be. They may not understand everything about our products & our business so they really can’t form an educated opinion on whether you should or shouldn’t do it. And they may think they know how Network Marketing works but odds are that they really don’t know. I didn’t understand it either until I researched Arbonne so therefore thought NWM wasn’t a valid business industry to be in. I was wrong & realized that once I did my due diligence.
I understand how you feel having never been a part of this industry before. A lot of us who join the business have never been a part of NWM. We make it work by training & being coachable, we do what we are told by our upline. Don’t reinvent the wheel. Arbonne has a lot of free training available to us about every aspect of the company & the industry. They give us the tools we need to learn. We also have several conference calls & meetings we can attend to learn more. If you join you will need to build your belief in the company, the products & the NWM industry as a whole. This will help you with all the other stuff. If your belief is high people telling you no doesn’t matter & thinking you don’t have enough prospects takes care of itself. Why? Because you start sharing the products & opportunity with everyone you meet. You start out with your warm market & then get referrals. And warm market encompasses a lot of people, people that you aren’t even thinking about right now. Again, your upline will help you with all the questions you have as well as all the other training provided. You upline will not send you out there by yourself until you are ready; they will help you build at first.
If you wife has a passion for the product then that is a great start there because that is what you are going to need. All you are doing is sharing product with people & then sharing the opportunity. Either they like it or they don’t but your enthusiasm & belief will help them want to try it & learn more. That is key. And it’s good that you are busy, busy people don’t waste time but instead get after it! A lot of people start out like you guys, too busy & not enough money. That is their why & what helps them to be successful. I know a lot of people who have done it & are doing it. And a lot of men are doing the business as well. The meetings I go to are now half way filled with men! Men love this business because it makes sense & it works. So get in there & work with her. You can both sign up separately, one under the other. Or you can wait to sign up later. Up to you. But couples who work the business together are doing very well.
Sorry this is such a long post but I wanted to answer as much as I could. Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions, we’d all love to help you in any way we can!

Thanks to all of you who have had the time to reply to my concerns and questions. I had to leave shortly after my last posting and couldnt wait until tommorrow to hear what you all had to say, so I logged back on now to see and say thanks. I will share all you have said with my wife and again cant thank you all enough. I just felt I needed to be better informed if I was going to support the business.
Thanks
Thanks

I will also say you don't have to invest $2k to get started. I feel so
bad that this is being pushed so hard. I'm apart of the team that
initially started the pup plan. I didn't invest that much. I started
with 5 pups, 1 for personal use and 4 to pup out. Looking back, I may
should have only done 2 or 3, with one of those being personal use.
There is a good reason I did it and there is a good reason to push the
$2k. It used to be that you could qualify for District Manager with
that initial investment. The way I started, I had $1640 in volume right
off the bat. So I met the personal volume requirement right there. I
only need to get my 4 business builders to sign on and do a total of
$6000 in the first 2 months and I'd be set. Didn't happen. I can get
people to love this stuff and buy but I can't get them to sign up to
save my life.
When I'm approaching people about the Arbonne opportunity and they ask
what the initial cost is, I tell them $29 gets you access to the
computer to order. Then you need to decide how much you want to invest.
You can do 1 pup, 3 pups, 20 pups if you'd like. I explain the
advantages for doing it each way.
Arbonne is a great company and a great product. I truely believe in it
all. But I think with all the people qualifing so fast for DM, RVP, and
NVP, it gets a little misleading or "too good to be true" type thing. I
know it can happen and there are tons out there that are working it the
right way. I just hate that something so simple and doeable has gotten,
in my opinion, out of hand.

Just wanted you to know that I spent $100.00 to sign up and get 4 Re9 products. I used these products to do my first classes and for my own use. I had 2 launch parties back to back, signed 6 peopleand sold $600.00 worth of product. Not all of these people became biz builders but continue to be wholesale buyers. I sometimes get discouraged when I see others move so fast but it is not a race and we can all go at our own pace. If you do get involved in the biz go to as many meetings as possible. My upline just got promoted to Regional Vice President and when I see her driving that White Mercedes I am more determined to be success. You have to step outside your comfort zone and talk to as many people in a day as you can. If you don't sign them up someone else will.Good luck

Hi julie, I know its hard not to get discouraged sometimes, My sponsor and I started at the same time and she did RVP back in May. I know that everyone has to move at his/her own pace. I have two small childeren(one was 2 months old and still nursing when I started) and she does not. We have to just set our own goals and know that we will move up in Management when our team is ready for that move. That is a good way to start your buisness and get products, a lot of girls I know have done it that way and its alot cheaper!

I agree with the what the other have posted. You do not need to invest that much to get started. Also ~ you do NOT have to buy $65 worth of product to get paid every month. You will always get your commission on any retail sales you make, no matter how much or how little you sell. You do need to reach $100 of personal retail volume in order to receive overrides. This can be done by buying it yourself (hence the $65.00) OR if you are able to sell $100 worth of product each month, you don't need to buy anything to get your override check.
This business really has very little risk in my opinion, especially if your wife likes to use the product. She will automatically receive a 35% discountoff regular retail on anything she wants to buy ~ for me that in itself was worth my start-up. Believe me, if you research other opportunities out there, they requiremuch more up front. Some even have requirements to "stay active" or receive commission.
BTW - I have also heard from others that you can be successful even if you don't live in a huge town. As with ANY business, there will be skeptics. Don't let that sway you ~ it will happen no matter what business you choose! Stay focuses on whatever you do, continue to do your research, and find someone you are comfortable with as a sponsor.
Best wishes to you!Edited by: mahoes
