I've come to the experts once again smileys/smiley4.gif
I am making some 'prints' for a client. He is actually sending them to a printer (I am not actually printing them, just creating them).
So, he is sending me logos and such to add to the 'prints'. My question is, can I reduce the size of the image (to about 1/4 of what he sends them to me) and keep the DPI at 400?
I am actully using a software to make the DPI exactly 400, but then sometimes the image has to be reduced WAY down to size. Does the DPI stay the same?
Thank you so much, as usual, in advance smileys/smiley4.gif

I wish I had confidence in an answer for you. I don't like doing print work anymore because it is a PITA. Your best bet is to call the printer directly and ask them all your questions. Each printer does things differently and has their own favorite programs.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I think I can help. How are you resizing them? If you are using Adobe Illustrator and it is a vector logo, you don't want to resize it there, it can mess up the strokes and such.
If you are using Adobe Photoshop, you can resize it. You need to go to image size and change the sizing there. Keep the resolution 400 and put in the correct size. If it changes the dpi when you put in the sizing, just put 400 back in the box before you click OK.
Also you can use the crop tool but you'll need to know the exact sizes and fill out the fields-length, width, and dpi and then go ahead and crop.
Hope that helps somehow..

Yes, that did answer my question! I believe I changed the DPI and then would often times have to make the image smaller. Looks like if I make the image smaller, I have to go back and reset the DPI to 400.
Thanks so much!!!!!!!!
