To Tamralynn:
I find it very immature to report someone who honestly misunderstood the guidelines for the board. This was actually my first time on the board and after viewing other posts I thought it would have been fine, not to mention that I didn't see a specific "guideline" folder within the "candle" folder like on other sites.
But to report someone...leave the job to the moderator, I'm sure she would have deleted the post. But like I stated before it was a common error.
Thank you!

Thank you Shannon!
So are both of you ladies candle makers or reps for companies? If you're a rep, how do you like? Have you found it too be beneficial?
Well, I have been making candles and in business for about7 years and I'm a one person show. I find that making candles is very therapeutic because it allows me to be creative not to mention make money at what I enjoy doing.
I appreciate the welcome ladies! smileys/smiley1.gif

Hi Michelle,
Well, welcome to the world of candlemaking!Candlemaking can be extremely fun and extremely stressful. I have been through the good and the bad and now back to the good with making gel and soy wax candles. The advice that I offer is to have a lot of patience and enough space for your supplies because it can grow before your eyes.
I started off making paraffin candles...smileys/smiley7.gifwhich were a total mess if it spilled on the countertop or kitchen floor. Hmmm...having flashbacks! I then migrated into gel wax, which I totally enjoy making because I have a natural art talent where I was use to doing sculptures and painting and then when I got into gel candles it allowed me to express my talent in another way. What I think of gel candles now is that it's primarily for home decor and now so much for everyday burning. For a true candle lover, soy candles are the best. I have researched extensively on the best quality wax and I have finally found a company that offers a high quality of soy wax. Soy candles can be very challenging but the end result is awesome.
Another piece of advice is to know your product and know it well. I say that because I recently attended a major gift show in Philadelphia and quite of few people stated that they handmade their products and when my associate started asking questions concerning their product many of themstuttered around the answers and some plainly admitted tonot knowing. So know your product and be honest thatkeeps your customers wanting to come back to you.
HTH,
Jameel

Hi Jameel! I sell soy wax candles too. I love that they clean up easily!
I am a consultant with a company. Candlemaking sounds fun. Maybe I`ll try my hand at it one day. In the meantime I enjoy selling. :)

Jameel,
I'm sorry you started off on the wrong foot. I didn't mean to upset you. There just seems to be more and more ads here on the candle board. I just want to make sure it stays fair for all of us.
There is asection on the wahm boards to get information on the rules for posting on the boards. You can view the rules, set by Cheryl the owner at this link: http://www.wahm.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=303&PN=1
Hopefully we can put our rough start behind us and share some good tips on building our business. smileys/smiley4.gif
