Okay, I'm a new consultant (yes I finally am official! Yeah!)and my director has explained the $99 sign up with me more than once and frankly I'm starting to feel a little stupid. smileys/smiley9.gifI could ask her again, but I want to see if maybe it's just a communication thing between she and I...you know how that happens with people sometimes.
I signed up, but didn't take advantage of the quick start discount (didn't have the extra money). But now I have 6 spas on the books this month, my first solo spa is next week (I'm doing my 2nd one with my director tomorrow, but it's just a mini spa at work, no selling).
Okay, so she's trying to help me see how I can sign up recruits at the $99 and still make money (I think) by having them place their $500 order with purchases their friends make (selling $225 in SOH or MDA for example), but what I'm "missing" is how I benefit from this monetarily at all, except that they are THEN a "qualified recruit".
Can someone explain this to me? How do YOU present the opportunity?
I was at our unit meeting last night (Angela Brown's team..WOW! Talk about ENERGY!), but there were so many gals there I just didn't get a chance to ask this question.
Can you assist? I don't want to miss even ONE chance to recruit and qualify (I'd love to see Cabo!!)
Thanks,
Michele in mo

Congrats on joining the BC family smileys/smiley17.gif.
When you recruit, you will make a commission on your recruits sales.
When you are a senior consultant it is 4% provided you have placed a $450 retail order yourself.
If you look in your consultant guide, it will list the different commission structures as you move up the BC ladder.
Also, when you recruit 4 people you wil automatically receive 50% off any size order you place.

Hi Everyone,
I have been a consultant now for almost 9 months, andread these posts all the time. I decided that for the firstfew months Ijust wanted to order my own products at a discount, do a few spas and see what happens.Well, I've decided that I love being a consultant andI am now ready to get a little more involved. I am now a unit VIP (just recruited my 4th person last week). Everyone on this sight is so nice and you guys have great ideas. My recruiter basically left me hanging after I signed up, but I have an awesome director in Angela Brown.
I hope to get better acquainted with all of you and share great ideas & spa stories (I've had my share of great ones, funny ones, and ones I would rather forgetsmileys/smiley36.gif)
By the way Michelle, I am in Missouri too. I live in a suburb outside Kansas City. PM me if you want!

The wonderful thing about aiming for Cabo comes in what is really happening when you make Cabo your goal. You need at least10 to go Cabo, depending on quick start and all that stuff. Let's say You get 10 qualified recruits. All in one month, you've promoted to VIP, maybe sign your DIQ intent letter, you're making a commission off of all those qualified orders, and you are setting yourself up to build a strong team. But, keep in mind that a recruit can qualify in two ways. 1. You qualify by placing a $500 retail order within 2 days of submitting your agreement and 2. When you place a total of $1000 worth of orders in your first 90 days, you are qualified.
I give my new recruits a "coupon" when they sign up. It says "order $225 in product and get $275 in product for FREE." I don't ask them to place a $500 order. Even though the two things are the same, it is less intimidating to say spend $225 then it is to say "order $500" Works especially well when dealing with people who are not necessarily the best with numbers. People go for free and many will qualify themselves. Then, you not only move closer to Cabo, you get a commission check as well. Hope that all makes sense.

Yes!!!! we just had this same discussion at our unit meeting tonight, and that's exactly what my director said to do...and I think it will work!! Had it been presented to me in that verbage at the time of ordering, I think I WOULD have made the purchase...
and remember....even if a recruit doesn't qualify, YOU STILL HAVE A RECRUIT!! and that person will help you move up the BC ladder....my first recruit didn't purchase to qualify but she made me a SENIOR CONSULTANT and I'd rather have that than a cheesy lime green watch any day!!! 3 more to Unit VIP!!!! :-)
and the order opportunities this month are AWESOME!!! WOOHOOO!!!!

I thought it was $500 worth of orders in first 90 days...they justforfeit their 55% discount by not QSing? It's $1000?
I like your idea about the coupon. I'm such a visual learner and so NOT a numbers person. If I can SEE it, even written out on paper, then I can understand it, but if you just tell me about it...yikes! LOL My director does this and she breaks it down further by telling them they only need 5 people to order the Silky Hands and Feet set and then her friends have, in essense paid to give her $275 in free product. She says she likes this approach because it helps them understand how easy it is to sell BC (a little SOH goes a long way in selling, don't you think?)
What I was confused about was how I wouldn't "lose my commission" by getting her qualified. I understand the longer term benefits, but I guess I was looking at the immediate. And I guess that would be that I earn 4% on some part that $500 order...is that it?
Thanks again all.
Michele - who has read the Consultant manual, but for some reason I get "stuck" on this part. smileys/smiley9.gif

smileys/smiley1.gifI'll try one more time. There are two ways to qualify. the first is an order with agreement. The second is by ordering so much within your first 90 days. If you order with agreement, you can get 55% off of a $500 order. If you don't order with agreement, you get 50% off for 90 days. So, if you don't place an order with your agreement, you lose the 55% off deal. The only other time you can get 55% off is if you place a $1000 order at BeautiU training.
Regardless, you get a commission off of their retail amount. So, if they order with agreement or place orders throughout the month, you still make commissions. Hope that clears up some things. If not, post again. smileys/smiley1.gif

forgot something...they do not have to be qualified for you to get commisions off of their retail orders. You want your recruits qualified because that is how you earn the rewards for the pearls and glasses and the trip. You also want them qualified as you build your team and become a unit. Other than that, you make commissions off of ALL recruits, qualified or not.

I think I've got it.
So really the only benefit for them is that extra 5%, right?

The most important benefit to a new consultant who places a qualifying order with her agreement is that she has product almost immediately to put in the hands of her clients at the point of sale.
Studies show that consultants who order inventory with agreement do twice as much business as those who dont and have more than a 70% chance of staying in the business past 2 years.
Is it required? Nope. Can you be successful without an order w/ agreement? Yes.
I've read back thru this thread a few times trying to figure out exactly what you're asking :) I think your recruiter/director is trying to coach you to recruit and qualify. That benefits EVERYONE, you and the new consultant. Don't be tricked into thinking that you'd rather have the "sale" from that person as opposed to having them join your TEAM - you will make money on a sale or have them join you and help you spread the joy and wonder of BeautiControl. We need all the help we can get and it matters not what kind of consultant she entertains to be - that can change and they have 90 days to qualify.
Best advice? Ask everyone, explain the offers for new consultants with your new flip chart pages and let her decide. Move on to the next person you can share with.

The benefit is more than just the 5%. My recruiter did not tell me anything about the 55% discount. I might have taken advantage of it had she asked. I don't have much of an inventory at all right now, and I can tell you of a few times where I lost the sale because I did not have the product on hand. Always offer them the Pamper and Profit set or the "spend 225 and get 500" offer. If they want to work the business, it gives them a head start. If not, it gets them lots of product for themselves to have when they run out or to give as gifts. I never tell my recruits that they need to "qualify" themselves. I give them the offer, give them a couple of different ways to obtain it, and go from there. Do you want them qualified? of course! You're growing your team and your business and earning some perks along the way. Do they have to be qualified? No. I see it asan opportunityto offer my newbies a way to get the best deal possible. And that is how I present it to them--as the best deal. And I really believe that when I say it. but I also want to say this. No matter what you do and no matter what it could potentialy mean for you, base everything you do on the other person. I offer the 55% offer, not because I want a commission, but because I want to share the best that BC has to offer. I encourage recruiting, not because I want to just grow my team, but because I feel that we have the best opportunity and the best product. Why not share? If you think of it all as a sharing process and not a "recruiting" or "sales" process, it changes your attitude and changes the way people receive you. Don't believe it? I am a living witness to it. Here lately, I have seen my bookings, sales, and recuiting go up and up because I quit trying to "make the sale" and "sign up the recruit", but I starting sharing out of my heart about this business. People see the joy and passion and desire you have and will join you as clients and consultants on your team because of it. I say that because I don't want the whole "qualify" issue to become just that...an issue. It is just another way that BC helps new people and at the same time reward you for sharing this wonderful opportunity. (sorry so long...had a lot to say and with my daughter in bed, I finally have time to say it!smileys/smiley1.gif) I hope it all makes sense to you the way it does to me. My goody bag is a gift bag because this company is a gift to me that I freely share with anyone within 3 feetsmileys/smiley36.gif

TN,
What a wonderfully powerful post!
when you really believe it - you can't help but share it and it really IS about the other woman and how she benefits, isn't it?
Zig Zeigler says, when you help enough other people get what they want, then you most always get what you want.
Keep on beleiving & sharing girl!

Thank you ALL again so much for patiently clarifying and inspiring me!! Tennessee, I especially appreciated your post. Of course that's the way I feel inside my mind, but I've been overly focused on sales techniques, profits, losses, sales angles, closing techniques, scripts......all of which are important, but of course...as you said....
"People see the joy and passion and desire you have and will join you as clients and consultants on your team because of it."
Don't sweat the small stuff, eh? I can't remember which motivational speaker I've heard recently say this, but it went something like, "If you just do the activities you know you need to do for long enough, you'll get the results you need to get."
Thanks again, all
Michele
