Anybody do purse parties? I was thinking of starting up a companny, but the general feedback I have been getting has not been great. It seems people really only want Knock offs. I don't want to sell fake bags. Besides that, it is illegal!

Anybody had any luck with doing purse parties? Any help would be appreciated.

Happy 4rth of July!

It seems to me that, in the right area, purse parties would go over great...I know I would love it. But, we all live in a Wal-Mart society, unfortunately - where everyone quality productsfor $1.88 or less! I try to avoid Wal-Mart at all cost - I walk out of there with more than I planned on getting! They are evil I tell you, EVIL!!

But, I digress....

With the right attitude, and it sounds like this is where your passion lies...You can do anything! I say go for it! It will take some time to change the Wal-Mart mindset that want fake bags, but you CAN do it!!

Purse parties can do very well in the right area..
We have a $20,000 purse party here in our area (NEVADA)

the lady advertises on the radio and makes a killing!

If you want to do it..and have a passion then do it.

I was into selling online, ebay etc i just got sick of the hustle side of it.

then i got into import and export. Lost $10k and said no more!

I still have all my contacts if you would like a list put together!

Last year I put together a local vendor show for Mother's Day, and one of the reps I had was from Beijo Bags. The bags are pricey, but that's because they are TOP quality and really, really cute. They sell like hotcakes around here! The corporate web site is www.beijobags.com (http://www.beijobags.com).

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I do want to do it, but am concerned about people wanting "fake" bags. Wow DomesticDIva, I can't believe that woman made that much! That is encouraging! I hope she was not selling replicas! LOL

Seriously, I appreciate any and all feedback. smileys/smiley1.gif

I think bags would be great. I looked into beijo. Man that was a veru expensive company to get into. You had to make a $5,000 investment to get started. And you cannot sell across your territory lines.

Hey Kim! How's it going?

I am trying not to get discouraged! I am going to look into things a bit more. I don't think I want to do another DS opp. Although I did email several reps in my area, but not one has gotten back to me at Maddy Moo. :-(

Hi Pink Princess:

I just went to a Purse Party today....Northern California. Check out the website....www.igotpurses.com

Apparently they should be up and running next week. However, as a consultant you earn purses....not moneysmileys/smiley19.gif. But apparently you can legally sell "legal knockoffs".

Something to look into....let me know if you had any luck. I am interested myself.

Best Wishessmileys/smiley2.gif

ps. my louis vuitton purse looks real at first glance, but if you know your merchandise you could tell it is fake. but it is really cute. There are no LV's on the bag and no tags. Cute bag for $30.

Hi Pink Princess!

My company sells purses along with jewelry and belts. Some people love to buy good purses and have no problem paying up to $200.00. Others would not consider a purse over $5.00. I think you need to find the right clients (purse people are like shoe people-they can never have enough!!!)smileys/smiley36.gif

One of the reason I went with Million Wishes is because we have a variety of items for different types of buyers.

Alicia you are so right about finding the right clients!

Christine and Alicia, I will look at both websites. Thanks! :-)

I have been feeling a lttile discouraged lately though. I went to a few fairs and the tables that were the busiest were selling the fakes, not the designer inspired or other cute purses. People were going crazy for them.

Alena: I have to agree with what you said in your PM. Thanks for the great advice. I have an inspired LV purse, and to be honest, I would rather have the knockoff version, they look so real.

p.s. it is fun dreaming though!

FYI- The poster earlier on the page that said selling AND buying fakes is illegial IS CORRECT. The reason behond it is ther people making the fakes do not have permission or for a better choice of words, have "stolen", the material to make them. LV is a copywrited material and word. To use itwithout LV's permission is illegal. You can not even sell these bags on EBAY without being caught and possibly prosecuted depending on the "brand". I do know that LV is commitedto prosecuting against fakes.

If I were you I would be VERY careful about this. Personally, I don't want to go to jail over a $200 purse.

I sell for Maddy Moo and we have Purse Parties. Although they aren't designed after big name designers.

They have a great line of design your own bags. smileys/smiley4.gif

Maddy Moo has great purses!

I make and sell purses and was recently approached about doing a purse party. I'm going to try it.

I agree you have to be in the right area. I have had very good luck with mine so far.

I was at a show yesterday that had a good amount of customers. There were over 50 tables, but nobody was selling anything except the purse man. The show started at 9am, by 2pm I had $8 in sales. The purse guy was over $2,000!!!

Another lady sitting by me had the most gorgeous swarovski crystal bracelets. They weren't selling. She was selling the junk earrings instead.

Bad day.

My sister went to an event where someone had Beijo bags. She said they were selling like "hotcakes." Her bag is so cute.

I don't care for LV bags and many of the other big name designer bags. Beijo is really different and I like B's and some of the other direct sales bags.

I looked into Beijo and I think it was $1200 to start.Edited by: LorettaA

I can't tell a "knock off" from an "inspired by" design. I think he was selling knock-offs.

I looked at the Beijo website. Very, very nice! I like them a lot. I requested more information but got nervous when I saw the post about the startup being $5,000. $1,200 is better but still more than I want to spend.

I also looked at Igotpurses. I like these a lot also. I'll let you know what I find out.

Hi,
It's interesting to see how times have changed and we now see designer purse prices the equivalent to a down payment on a house. I guess my next question is will the prices keep going up? Will we one day see million dollar handbags on the market? And would you ever spend thiis much on a bag?

I can't see myself spending hundred on the designer name of a bag myself.

Someone was talking about the selling they noticed at shows. I was set up at a home party event at a winery. A couple of tables over was a gal selling, I think I Got Purses. She hardly had anyone at her table.

Then I was at another craft show and there was a gal with I Got Purses and another gal with that one company that offers interchangeable outer shell, I can't think of them right off. I Got Purses gal was just swamped what time I was there.

I'm looking into Initials, Inc... there's no one in my area... I don't think there is anyone in my state period.

What exactly is the difference between 31 gifts and intials inc? Pricing and hostess gifts I see the difference there, but just wondering.
Anyone?

I looked into both of these companies... in addition to a few others. I found I preferred 31 for many reasons. But ofcourse... those were "my" reasons.

I would be happy to share with you what 31 has.... but only have a handful of info on Initials.

Also... here is a link to how many reps there are in 31 across the nation.... GROWING FAST!

Have you looked into Thirty-One? I just checked the map and it shows 26 in MN alone.... But that doesnt mean they are all active!

Welcome to Thirty-One! (http://www.thirtyonegifts.com/map2.htm)

I did consider 31 before I stumbled upon Initials, Inc. Both companies has such cute stuff.. and I would buy from both. But I think the price point of Initials is a little more fitting for the area that I'll market to. A lot of things to consider... makes decision making tough sometimes.

I would be more than happy to help answer any questions anyone may have regarding Initials, Inc. I, too, looked at both companies before deciding on Initials for a variety of reasons - over a year and half later, and my business is thriving and I couldn't be happier and more excited about my future with Initials, Inc.!

I was looking into 31 and FEH but INITIALS products have really caught my attention.
(part of which I love candles and the glass holders with initials are great looking)

Questions I have about Initials

What are the quota's monthly with and without a downline?
And personal quota's monthly or quarterly?
If you dont meet your quota do you lose your downline?
Can you retail at fairs shows etc? How? They buy the product and than have it personalized?
Is it a home party sales focused business and not a online sales type business?
Would love to see the compensation package and hostess rewards as well.

Thanks

Our Glass Cube & Candle is beautiful...and delicious smelling, too! :)

To answer some of your questions about Initials, Inc.:
There is no monthly quota as a Creative Partner - as a Leader, you would need to maintain $500 in monthly sales in order to be paid on your downline.
Active status is maintained with $250 personal sales per rolling quarter.
If you don't achieve your $250 personal sales in a rolling quarter, you would lose any downline and go inactive; you would then have another 3 months to post $250 in sales and regain your active status.
Yes - you can sell at craft/vendor shows - you would order the products, which they would personalize.
Initials, Inc. is a party plan company, and home parties prove to be the best way to sell our products; however, you can certainly do online sales as well...as long as you purchase a replicated website for $9.99/mo.
I would be more than happy to email you a copy of the Career Plan (it's fabulous!) and our Hostess Rewards Plan, as well (fully company funded). Please PM me your email address if you'd like it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just wanted to revived this thread to let people know it costs only $179 plus shipping and tax to start up and you get 2 of the most popular bags and there are no quotas or minimums to meet. If you need more information, please let me know.
