Hi everyone!
Just a question--
I live in Northern WI so doing a lot of spa shows just doesn't happen. However--I am really interested in doing craft shows. How many of you have done them? Have you been successful? What do you do to get prepared to do a craft show?
Thanks in advance!!!
Angie

Hello Angiesmileys/smiley9.gif
I LOVE LOVE LOVE craft shows! I do really well on
sales and have gotten several bookings, a few new
bunnies and tons of product sales from them! We
are gearing up in this area for craft show season
and I already have 5 of them booked. The holiday
season is AWESOME for craft shows because we
offer unique stocking stuffer items!
I have an 8' table for products and literature and then
a card table with products to demo. I do a salt scrub
and a hand spa to whomever wants to try and I
always have a large crowd standing by watching as it
generates lots of interest and excitement! I like to do
the larger shows with another bunny so that I can
have one of us doing the demos and one available
to talk about the products and opportunity.
I cannot WAIT to start my holiday craft shows.... they
never fail to generate a huge amount of business for
me. If you would like, I can email you a picture of my
table from a recent show to give you an idea of how I
set up.
Thanks for letting me ramble!
To success!!

I have not yet done a craft fair, but will hopefully be doing about 3
during the holiday season. Like Andi said, holidays do seem to be
a big selling season for everyone!smileys/smiley1.gif

I haven't done any craft shows yet, but I did organize a Vendor Expo. We had a little over 200 people come and I sold about $150 in products. The biggest seller? Our lotion bar hands down. All you had to do is demo the bar and people want to buy it! I ran out of lotion bars and had lots of other stuff left over. Next time, I will bring mostly lotion bars with me.

I generally sell what I demo.... which is the salt
scrubs, body butters and lotion bars. Can't keep any
of them on the table. Lots of lotion bars for stocking
stuffers and teacher gifts for sure. Also, I sell the
SCENT that I'm demoing as well. No matter if I have
other testers, if they try that scent, they buy it.

I agree with Andi, whatever scent I demo'd is what people bought. I also found that most people wanted to buy anything $10 and under (which we have lots of!)
I also had a lead box at my table where I raffled off a lotion bar and shea butter. It was just a small box I bought at staples for .87 and I wrapped it with colorful tissue paper. I used our CAP cards for customers to fill out. I was told by another WAHM that when you do this, people only fill out the forms just to "win" not because they are interested in purchasing from you in the future. She gave me a great idea that I am going to use next time where I say that if you spend $20 or more you can be entered to win a prize (like a basket of products).
Andi have you found this to be true? I have nothing to compare it to since I have only done 1 expo.

smileys/smiley1.gifWe've done several craft shows, fundraisers and an open market spot. They wanted cash and carry. The most we sold was a$250 in 3 hours!
I would suggest knowing your market. For example, we did a Children's Hospital Auxillary last month. The customers were willing to spend $40 and up. We did carry more of the gift sets and other more expensive items.
School fundraisers and craft shows, we carried items that were $20 and under. Lots of Lotion Bars, shea body butter lotion, lip balms, ect. We also carried 3 of the OMH, Floral Fresh Melon and Pearberry.
We offered a Drawing Opportunity basket at each event. We purchased a photo box, shredded paper filler and aging products in it wrapped inside a gift bag and pretty fabric ribbon. It was great for leads and our customer mailing list.
Have fun.
