View Full Version : How much?

How much $ can realistically be made with a home party plan business? Honestly. I know it obviously depends on how much work, etc you put into it. If you know, how much $ do the leaders in you company make annually? Six figures?
I am trying to find something and I've posted in the NW folder too, which I am looking into several of the options there also. I would love to hear from you ladies here though. Can you make a "living" with party plans? I think when people think of party plans they really don't see it as being very lucrative (I don't mean that you can't make money with it b/c I know you can, but more along the lines of becoming "wealthy" with it.). When people look to make BIG money they usually look to NW and MLM...is there truth in that?

Hi. I can't tell you anything about MW or MLM. But what I can tell you is what I've experienced as a Consultant with Taste of Home Entertaining. I earn an average of $90.00 per hour considering the preparation time, party time and order processing time. I surely think you can make a "living" doing party plans. I would have to guess that the leaders of this new company are making 6 figures or will be very soon doing their parties and recruting downlines.
I know of a local Lia Sophia jewelry gal who has has 100's under her and under her many downlines. So even if she is making $10.00 per person, times that by 200 and she's making a good living off her downlines in addition to her own parties. She is of course a director and she didn't get there by doing nothing.
Your income, as with any partyplan job or "regular" job depends on how much effort you put into it, how organized you are and your "attitude". It is of course a "business" and it has to be run that way.
Your income from your downlinedepends on your company's specifics percentages and it also depends on what kind of a "leader" you are to your downline.
Ihop that some partyplan gals who are very successful will jump on this topic andshare their success stories.
Good luck to you and as with anything else in life, you get back what you put into it.

I agree with the post above.. I PM'd you, but I think the thousands come if you join in at the ground floor.. I could be wrong, but that is what I've always seen. That is why I joined Taste of Home Entertaining... we just launched May 1st and the response has been AMAZING!! I'll keep you posted when I make thousands! Hee hee! smileys/smiley2.gif
Can't wait to hear from others who are very successful! I know they are out there!

I agree with those on the "ground floor" being the big money makers. But, I've also seen some join a company 20 years into it and still make a good paycheck. Me personally, I make about $12,000 a year and probably more this year. So about 1/2 of our yearly income. No, we're not rich, but it pays the bills. Recruiting and selling together are what make the party plan business work as a successful business. I've seen lots of people that make a career of it and yes, most of the top levels are 6 figure. When I was with Longaberger our Sales Directors (their program has since changed) were making upwards of $200,000 per year. The largest groups that is. In Northern Lighst at Home, no one is making that much yet. First off our management structure was insanely difficult until last fall and we had poor internal management until last spring. Now we're really moving along and I expect to see (and BE a part of it) that top level really move. And have some of our own making lots of money. I know my upline is the largest unit/directorship and she makes over $1500/month in just downline commission and she's only at the 2nd management level. Obviously a ways to go, but I would guess she makes about $24,000 a year gross including her sales too. Not to shabby for a stay-at-home mom.

Our manager shared one time that she made $160,000 (net income). She has been in the company for 5 or 6 years and has a downline of 1,200. She also has sales of about $4,000 each month.

Wow, ladies! It's nice to see some actual #s. I know a lot of people can't due to company restrictions, but it helps to see that some people are actually making, for example, half of your family's income. That's very promising information for newbies!

It has nothing to do with ground floor. It has to do with you.
I've seen people come in and surpase their uplines. It has to do with your abilitity to build a team and go out there.
You can average anywhere from $50 to $200 an hour for your own work. Your team is where you make the most becasue you can duplicate your efforts. Being able to train them and motivate them is very important.
My advice is to look at your heart first. Where do you want to be? Once youknow where you want to be, you can figure out the how to get to where you need to be money wise.

Most party plans work in an MLM fashion. That is were you build your
residual income. I agree with everyone above, it really comes down to
you and what you are willing to do to make it happen.
Ground floor opportunities help but how much you are willing to put
into it and how passionate you are about the product and business can
have a lot to do with it too. In most party plan companies the
top leaders will be making 6 digits; the important thing is how much do
you want to make? What is your goal? Then once you know
that what will you do to make that a reality?!
Owning a business takes time, dedication and passion. If you have
that, your next step is to find the right product/company for
you! Do your research and have fun with it. It should be a
fun adventure, or you will not stick with it.
Best wishes for success in 2006. If there is anything I can do to help you please contact me.

I think you can really make what you want depending on how much time you put into it. Alot has to do with how many people you have on your team, if you want a team. Ground floor doesn't guarantee anything. It is up to you. Money can be made with party plans- you need to find products you are passionate about, make a plan and set goals and learn from the best in your company on how to acheive those goals. Also, it will NOT happen overnite-it does take time. Good luck with your search!

I've been with Southern Living at HOME for 4.5 years and I almost make what I did as a TV Reporter 5 years ago. When I factor in the incentives (Trips, free product, etc ...Iprobably make more)
Starting on the ground floor does help. I was NOT one of those on the ground floor with SLAH. There were many, many ladies who started on the ground floor who are not where I am today. There are ladies who started a year ago who are going gang busters!
Why do I tell you that? I say that because your business is what you make of it! I work hard, have fun at my shows, LOVE my product, and can sell the heck out of it! I do about 6-8 shows a month and sponsor about 8- 10 consultants a year. Mycommission and downline royaltieslast Novemberwere close to $5,000.(largest month)
You CAN make money in this business. I invested $199 and for that I now have a pretty darn good business! I think a lot of people sign up with a company and sit back thinking the bookings, sponsoring, etc will come easy. Trust me, it is not easy. But if you're willing to work at it, it does pay off. (But it doesn't happen overnight)
Good luck and remember, your business is what you make of it!

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that starting at the ground floor was were all the money is. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I agree with all the posts. It IS all about how you work your business and whether or not your heart is in it. I think anyone can make a lot of money in ANY business if it is something you love and work hard at. I agree, too, that it will not happen overnight, and any business that says it does, is a scam!
The thing to do is look at all party plans and research their compensation plans. Then be realistic about what you think you can accomplish.

There are two types of information that you seem to be looking for. One is what do the top leaders make, and two is what can you make just starting out. In Mary Kay, our top leader makes about $90,000- 100,000 a month. It is important to research the company you choose to make sure that you can make money just starting out. I think that is one of the biggest reasons people quit. Look for a great plan that offers a good discount on products as well as something you can get excited about. MK offers 50% for all consultants, at all levels. You can make money if you are committed to success and find the right vehicle to get you there.

As with anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. I have seen many friends make a decent living through direct sales (approx. $30-40,000 year) and I have seem some make $12-15,000 year. As for myself, I am with Creative Gifts and Gourmet and I am happy to say that I have personally made between $3025 up to $5,176(this month). I consistently have parties (both home & catalog) and now am preparing for my first fundraiser this summer.
I too thought by joining this company being on the ground floor, that I would have that one step ahead but I found that it was my passion for their products which left me wanting to tell more and more people about it. Hence, I have had many contacts and love when the phone rings and its either someone asking me for consultant info, hostessing or repeat orders. That is how you will make it by networking with everyone you know or have yet to meet. But first and foremost, enjoy what you do and it will show.

You've gotten a lot of great info. It really depends on how you promote your business, how many parties you hold, etc!
With Watkins home parties (aka Good Tastings) you make:
25% to 39%
The more parties you do the more income you'll make in your sales. We promote in several different ways and in ways that we are comfortable with as we don't have requirements.
Our founder who started our group (an associate like the rest of us), 10 years ago, and the last posting was that he was making more than $250,000./yr
Find something that TRUELY grabs you! Your success will come from your own enthusiasm.
Good Luck! smileys/smiley1.gif
