Hi!

I'm pregnant with my 2nd child and I have about 4 months left before he arrives (yay!) I've been researching top skills on freelancing sites and I'm trying to find something that I can realistically teach myself to do in a few months and isn't really flooded by overseas competition!

I know I'm not going to be a master at the skill, but I'd like to be able to tackle small projects and then build my way up to more challenging and profitable jobs. I've checked out PHP and a few other programming languages. I'm considering those, but I'm not sure.

I'm not the best writer. I've been writing for iWriter and postloop recently and for the amount of time I spend doing it, I think its a waste. I'm a creative writer, but if you give me a topic, I can write on it. However, it'll take me forever. A seasoned writer can write a 200-300 word article in about 15-20 minutes. Me, I get distracted and wordblocked (I think that's the term lol) and it takes me almost an hour...all for about 1-3 bucks!

Anyway, I'm hoping not to spend too much on equipment or books. Hopefully, I can find all I need at the library! I'm up for any new skill, as I love learning. I don't mind it being something alway from the computer, like a craft of some sort.
I tried MLM, but I just don't have the budget for autoshipments and marketing at this time.

I almost feel like I am reading a post from myself. I am 4 1/2 months pregnant (my first biological child...I have step-children and foster children). I recently made the decision to stop working full-time outside of the home because of the stressful nature of my old position. The problem is that now I am at a loss of what to do for income.

I am co-owner of a small independent publishing company but the problem with those types of businesses is it takes at least 2 years to really make a profit. I have two degrees in business as well as a recent MFA in Creative Writing. The problem is that now I have to work from home. No one will hire a 5 months pregnant woman knowing that in 4 months I will be out for 1 ½ - 2 months for maternity leave. But then again I really want to start working from home anyway.

So for now I am in the process of trying to work in bookkeeping/accounting from home (I have years experience in the accounting field), writing but I also started a network marketing business. The business has a really good support system and you work on referrals from friends, family and acquaintances so I am hoping it will work out well for me.

If you have some extra money, you can use it to invest in stocks or other investment funds. Stock market is picking up and if you pick the right ones, you can get it right. It will need some work and research but can be very rewarding.

Have you considered selling things online on sites such as Ebay and Amazon?

You don't require any specific skills, and you can do it from home. All you need to do is find a product to sell which you can easily store in your house.

Best of wishes with the new baby! Unfortunately, most of what I've seen over the years for freelancing opportunities are writing jobs. With only a few months to learn a new skill, I am not sure what you will be ready for when the time comes. If you are web design savvy, maybe you could find some work in that sort of field. Good luck!

Oh yeah- and if you are the crafty type, maybe you could sell items you create via Etsy.com.
