smileys/smiley5.gifI posted a question in the fundraising folder, but no one answered, so I am going to try this folder... I was wondering, for those of you who do fundraisers - Do you justmail out information, or do you call places, first to find out if people are interested?
Thank you,
Sherri

I did alot of fundraising when I was with HGP. For the most part mailing out information to schools etc is a complete waste of time. You have to remember that the PTO members are volunteers. They check their mail at the schools once a week or even some places monthly. DO you realize how much "junk" they get in their mailboxes?
Keep fundraising packets on you. When you driveby a car wash wash or bake sale stop in. Leave a packet with the fundraising coordinator. Check your local baseball, football, cheerleadng teams etc. Make an appointment to go to one of their meetings and present your information.
Referals are always great! Where do your neighbors kids go to school? Dance school? Daycare etc. Ask them to take some information to their chairs. Be creative. IF you do decide to mail out packets then you must call to follow up. Thats the only way they are going to look at your information!
Hope this helps,
Meredith

I actually GO to the potential clients for a few reasons.
~I want to get in front of the person who actually handles the decisions on the fundraising. I don't want to take the chance of it getting into the hands of someone who doesn't care and just throws my hard work away.
~by going in, I can actually show the jar candle itself, and usually end up making a few sales to other people within the office. ;)
I go with a few things in hand.
~ A flyer showing the basic layout of the opportunity plus testimonials from other clients. I also attach a scent sample and my card (which has a scent sample attached)
~ A VOTIVE of the candle itself. That is going to be your strongest asset.
~A Jar candle, so they can actually SEE, touch, and smellwhat they will be buying
~ I am my best rep for my business, so I want them to know who they will be working with.
~ my kids. Just because they are always with me. smileys/smiley36.gif
