Maybe you all thought this up years ago and I am way behind the times..lol but here is what I'm doing for my niece for her birthday.
I got her Usborne's book "Science in the Kitchen" and am going to package it in a basket with some of the "kitchen" ingredients that she may need....measuring cups and spoons, baking soda, vinegar, maybe food coloring.
Yay for getting kids excited about SCIENCE. :D

Great idea! The Science books are awesome. I also love the 50 Science Things to Make and Do. She'll love your gift.
