View Full Version : Preschool for daughter?

Hi everyone! I am seriously considering putting my 3 year old daughter into a local private preschool. Currently our schedule is as follows:
Monday - home with me
Tuesday - I work so she's with my mom
Wed. - with me - we do gymnastics class
Thursday - with me
Friday - with my husband while I'm at work

I am considering having her do 2 days/week half-days. That would probably be Monday/Wed or Mon/Fri.

The pros are that she would be with other kids, get some fun educational activities, etc. I am so NOT good at coming up with creative things to do. She is SUPER smart and loves to learn, and I think she would totally thrive in this kind of environment. Other pros would be that it would give me at least one full morning to focus on my business with no distractions. Typically I can only work when she is napping or after bedtime. This would allow me one full morning to do work.

The cons are that there is a cost, of course. It would also make me a little bit busier with going back and forth between the school and home. However, it's only about 10 minutes away.

Anyone have thoughts? If you have had experience with this before or have suggestions, I welcome them! Also she has never been in a day care/child care setting before, so I think having the social interactions would be good for her.

She will probably enjoy going but being home or with family is not at all going to slow her down when she does get to school. I had a serious issue sending my girls when they were that young because I just wanted to have them with me for as long as possible. Too soon she will be in school and then there is no going back, unless you decide to home school. I waited for them to both be 4 to go to preschool and just enrolled them into some art programs at the local community center while they were 3. Either way she will turn out just fine I am sure.
