View Full Version : I was on the local news!

I did a Women's Expo today and they had the local news station come and film. The video of me and one of my new consultants was the longest in the piece about the event! There was no voice, but you could see me talking. Denise40, you will be happy to know that the spapostcards brochure was also featured in that segment!

This is just so exciting! My husband has been in the paper a lot and now I get to be on the local news!!

It was a great day at the booth. 2 are interested in starting the business and 28 are interested in parties. I collected more door prize slips this time. My consultant and I have lots of calls to make next week.

Such an exciting day!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

I have talked with my new consultant since I posted this thread. She is so excited about it all! One month in business and already a celebrity!

Good things do come from working your business! Booths are a great way to network and get your name out there.

Don't get discouraged. Look for new ways to promote your business and opportunity to join this awesome company!

Believe in your dream and set goals to make them come true! Dream BIG!

Hi Vicki! How wonderful for you and exciting for us too! Thank you soo
much for that and those posters and our new website will be available to
you in about two to three weeks. I'll post it on the boards when it's ready.
We can't wait because I think those posters will be so eye catching for

Booths are a great way to get leads outside of your circle of family
and friends. It really is our lifeline in this business when you can
secure bookings with people you don't know. Otherwise, you eventually
run out of people!

I have been doing a demo booth for an event that is sponsored by a
local radio station called Working Women's Night Out. Businesses are
encouraged to participate and a lot of free prizes and drawings are
given. It usually draws a nice size crowd every Wednesday night.

Last week, I gave away the Spa Express Kit. I got about 20 names that
night with 10 saying they would be interested in having a party. I
booked one already.

Yesterday, I was getting my nails done in this great salon that just
opened. There were tons of ladies in and out getting their nails and
feet done. I asked the manager if I could do a drawing box there and he
said sure!

I also have a display table set up at Curves this month. I have booked
two parties there and am gathering a lot of names from the drawing too.

I always choose to give away the Spa Express kit because it has all of
the things I demo at my parties. It is only $8 but the parties I book
from it and sales I make, more than make up for giving it away for
free.

These are the rewards I offer to my hostesses:

free neck wrap and spa express kit (given on the night of the party)

50% off skinlogics (gold and platinum too) for keeping original date

50% off microdermabrasion set and Cell Block C pm for having 6 friends at the party.

Also $250 in sales and 2 bookings = $100 shopping spree for $49

$350 in sales and 3 bookings = $100 for $39

$450 in sales and 4 bookings = $100 for $29

When potential hostesses see all of this, they realize they can get
started with a lot of product for very little expense. I feel giving
this much to them is well justified because your hostess is the one
that is going to get her friends and family to the party! So treat her
right!!

Angie,

Great job! I also talked with 2 Curves owners yesterday and got permission to have a table set up there. I really need to join Curves too after seeing myself on tv.

Glad to hear others are having success out there too!

Keep up the good work everyone!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

I am so glad you made the TV! What a great opportunity! Boy, the ideas I am going to run with after my leg heals!

have to ask, how many of you are mailing out your hostesses invites and then following them up with confirmation? My party (2nd one this weekend) bombed out 30 seconds before I walked out the door! She had no one coming and was more worried about the fruit she had just bought than the fact I was loaded up and ready to Spa! I am wondering where I am going wrong or if I just had a bad weekend. I know a few replied that I should send the invites myself, so I wanted to get more opinions!

Thanks in advance!

I am a new consultant. I haven't held my first Spa yet, however I do plan on sending out the invites myself. I think that way you will get a better response as well as have a follow up tool.

Welcome to the board! You will find lots of good advice and a very supportive bunch here!

I look forward to getting to know you!

I send out the invites myself.

Since March 1st - I have held (as in done) over 22 ESCAPES at home and work. I've had 3 to reschedule. No cancellations (except if they were transferring to someone in their office that just signed and they want to have that new consultant do the ESCAPE).

All the rest have held on the original date. I don't know about you but I think those numbers are impressive.

why do you think that the majority of parties don't hold? I think its because the hostess never took the minimal time to invite the guest and promote it. Its such a tiny thing that makes such a HUGE difference. ....

so....do it for her and make sure that it gets done

Here's the benefits (IMO) of sending out the invites yourself

1) You know when and how it was done
2) You know who is being invited (gain information for prospecting)
3) By getting the information, you know that your hostess is at least committed to helping you grow your business
4) Another reason for contact with the hostess
5) You have information to contact those that didn't attend
6) Lets your hostess know that this isn't a game/hobby for you
7) Puts your name/invitation out there in the public for people to see
8) Postage is tax deductible
9) Allows you to use the number of invites as an example of the hostess' contact list for her own business prospecting when she joins your TEAM
10) You aren't wasting invitations that just sit in a packet and never get used.

Real life happens and sometimes hostesses will need to reschedule but the "majority" will not do it when the invitations have already gone out - because it makes them look bad to renig on something that people have already been invited to, right?

I do my invitations on my computer. They are postcard sized (4 to a page) and one side tells about what we will be doing and what they need to know to ESCAPE. That side is standard and I print up about 50 sheets of those at a time.

The other side is where the individualized information is about the date/time/hostess/etc. I make those and print them as needed.

I cut them with a paper cutter, insert them into an invitation size envelope, include a coupon for the product of the month and something sparkly. For every 3 invitations that go out - I have a winner's sticker (already talked about that in another post).

I ask each hostess for 25-35 names within 24 hours of her booking with me. I am booking 3 to 4 weeks out right now so they have plenty of time and so do I. I mark on my calender the days that I need to a) gather names, b) address invitations (do this on Word Labels) and c) mail them. I would estimate that the amount of time that I spent handling those invitations for one ESCAPE would be 30 minutes (typing out labels and addressing takes up the majority of that time) and the expense (including postage) is 44 cents each.

To me....this is an investment in my business and practically GUARANTEES that my ESCAPE will hold.

I send the hostess one with the instructions on what to do with those winner stickers along with a printout of who has received an invitaiton and their phone # so she can use this list as her "calling list" to find out who has a sticker.

By the time the party holds - I have had 4 or 5 points of contact with my hostess and she really IS my business partner by that time.

That's my experience and hope it can benefit you :)

Dora, THANK YOU! I totally agree with you and this was the advise I was looking for!smileys/smiley17.gif

I have 6 parties booked for July (after my medical leave!) So while I am down I will get to work sending out the invites and informing the hostess's that I am doing it for them. This will give me something to do while I can not Spa anyone, yet still keep me involved with BC. I have a whole box of invites from spacards, but I do love your postcard idea too. I use publisher which is excellent at designing.

Thanks again, I appreciate your time in responding!
