View Full Version : Open Date Card

Can anyone describe to me what an open date card is? Is it as simple as it sounds? What I have been using at parties are 8.5 X 11 blank calendars with dates highlighted that I would like to book. I put star stickers on the "hot dates" that they can get extra incentives for booking. The problem is, since I am new to doing parties, I have NO upcoming home parties after tomorrow. I really don't want all the guests to see my empty calendar!!
TIA!

Hi Carrie
With Home and Garden Party we have a form with about 8 - 10 lines that you write in the dates you want to work. You write down the date on the piece of paper and then star those that you want to work. I have found when I use this that I only list anout 4 dates and never list two are the same day of the week because people have a tendency to pick the second date when the days are the same.
If you like to use a calendar, use the fake it til you make it. Write in any personal appointments or names of friends in pencil. Write your confirmed shows in ink. Then if you are at a show and some one selects one of your penciled dates, you can say to them "insert name in pencil" is a great friend and I'm sure she won't mind changing her date.
Hope this makes sense.

Thanks so much Lynn for the explanation and great ideas! I may try both over time and just see which works best for me.

You don't even have to fake it. Cross out the dates you have
personal/family commitments. The Cross out the dates you do not
want to work. Hightlight a few that you want booked and use your
star for your hot dates. They don't need to know what your
complete schedule is they just need to know the dates you have
available. You may even just focus on the first two or three
weeks coming up. Then if someone wants a lated date they will ask.
I use the one page list of dates and I usually list the closest dates I
want booked for last. For some reason people will pick
them. I don't know if it is a psychological thing or not.
But it works to get those dates booked.
