Hi all!
I'm a MK constulant. Anyway, we're moving next week from SC to VA and I was wondering how would I word the first party, grand opening, ipen house, whatever it's called in your company. I don't know many ppl there (we lived there in 99-01) ButI want to have a grand opening/open house type party but not sure how to word it. I'll be super new and probably living in an apartment. Any info would be great to help get my brain in gear. I just can't think of a good phrase to put on the invites.
Thanks!Edited by: Bella_Rose

Hi there!! How about a "New to the Neighborhood" opening.
Sometimes apartments will have a rec hall or something similar that you could use. If not, you could contact a local resturant and ask them if you can use a room. They might want you to guarentee a minimum food purchase, but that way you could have them come and maybe have a bite.
You don't have to feed them a full meal. You could say that you will offer coffee and a desert. If they want something else, they can buy it themselves. You could even leave off the dessert.
Hope this helps you to start thinking of ideas.

My MK rep uses the local library every monday night and does facials and foot treatments and what not. So that might be a thought for you. I would definately do a relocating party and invite all the people you do know and ask them to bring a friend. I would wait a couple weeks to have it that way you can invite all the people you meet while moving in! LOL!

I'm interested in this as well as we'll be moving later this fall (just to a new city close by, but we won't know anyone). I sell Avon and am wondering if I should have an inventory on hand??

If you"ll be in an apartment, check to see if they do some kind of newsletter for the residents -mine does. And if they'll let you hold an Open House in their clubhouse (if they have one) than you can make up fliers and have them hand them out with the newsletters -just make sure you ask them when they hand out the newsletters. And also put up fliers by the mailboxes and in the clubhouse -people forget. I've done a couple of these at my apartment clubhouse and did very well.
It would probably be a good idea to run an ad an the paper too.
Good luck!

I like the restaurant idea. Thanks for the suggestions! we leave formove on Saturday and we still don't have a place stay, but I'm optomistic, the property managers up there seem to be understanding toward military. Edited by: Bella_Rose

In Mary Kay, personalized service is key. Therefore, to just hand books out would not serve the purpose of trying our customized Powerhouse products. Rosi - please give me a call and I will give you lots of ideas. Happy Moving!!

Wow,
What part of Virginia? I'm in SW Va and if you're near me perhaps I can help!!
If you are moving to an apartment community, I have a couple of ideas.
The first would be to ask the leasing manager if you can use the clubhouse or office area to have a show. Post fliers throughout the complex and try to do it when rent is due. You'll have more traffic coming through and most tenants will not be so stingy as they know at that point how much money they can spend!!
Also, you can go door to door with the fliers. It's more personable which will get better results than hanging a flier. Also, on your flier or when you go door to door, let the other tenants know you are new to the area. They may be new too, or just don't know anyone outside they're job and would be more open to attending when they know they wouldn't be the outsider.
Wish you SUCCESS!!

Just a thought, but perhaps just moving into a new neighborhood and having yourfirst contact with your new neighbors be a biz launch may turn them off.
I suggest that you have a 'get to know me' type coffee time, maybe ask them to bring a favorite sandwich or salad and you offer flavored coffee's and ice teas. Just get to know them first as friends. Then if they see your catalogs around or ask you what work you do, you can mention it.
Let them come to you if they want to become customers.
Just my opinion....

Another thought - get in touch with your local Chamber of Commerce. They probably have a *welcoming wagon* or something of that sort, where you could introduct yourself through the packets they give out to new residents.
Good luck!smileys/smiley1.gif
