I tried a search in this topic for "web host" and it aborted twice.
Do any of you do web hosting?
If so how much do you charge per month?
If youcould hostunlimited domains how much would you pay for this service to be a Web host manager?
I know this is specifically for web design but I thought I'd ask.
TIA,
Catherine

I have two plans, currently. One domain hosted is under $4/mo. 10 domains hosted is under $8/mo. I'm not sure what I would charge for unlimited domains ... I guess I'm no help. smileys/smiley36.gif<!--

Thank you all for your replys.
Teresa: I don't know how many timesI've clicked on your reseller link in the last few months. I don't know if I want to be the one to design but you can pm the cost or maybe I could let you design them since I'm on your design referral program.
I had clicked on Bekeeda earlier today too.
Jen: BTW I'm still interested in your advertising special and I saw that several months ago in wahm-announce I think. Thanks for the reminder in your sig.
Melissa: I'll have to check it out when site is not "updating".
It wasn't hypothetical on asking for unlimited. My current host had a special upgrade that for the first 100 orders they would give unlimited for less than $36....but its regularly that for 40 domains.

Hi Catherine,
My hosting link is www.riversidewebspace.com - I wasn't sure if you were looking for a web host, so I didn't include a link. Sorry! smileys/smiley9.gif I thought you were researching and comparing plans/prices for your own hosting business.

To expand on this, those of you who host, do you have a reseller or have your own personal server? Or some other solution?
I've always had my own private webserver, but recently switched over to a VPS (Virtual Private Server) which has been very reliable and much more affordable.

VPS definitely have its pros and cons. So does a reseller sitting on a physical web server.
Why people should get a VPS is to have a better control over their website when space is tight in their shared account. However, the limit in resources set in VPS also prevent heavy sites, especially with alot of backend scripts, to run at optimal speed because database systems require quite abit of CPU & memory usage. So VPS may sometimes be slow for some of your solutions and quicker for others.
Reseller might not have that 'free' access to the root and run your own custom script without SSH access. However, a reseller site will utilise what the resources in the physical server has. At such a time, it actually run quick than a VPS. Of course, your web host will start screaming at you when you continuously under high resource usage.
So maybe when you start looking for a web solution, look for one that has excellent server management. An optimised server will perform much better.
Hope this helps.

If i have a site on homestead.. can you take my site and host it for the $11 a month? will i still be able to make changes?
I need a web person to to help me take a pop up off my site!
Homestead is great and comes with alot of tools.. but its costly if you arent using all the tools!
