Hey everyone,
my sister tried to sign up for wahm and couldn't so she asked me to post this for her (she can read the posts - I'll try to help her join soon)
I am new and haven't gone to beautiU yet but I have my first spa scheduled before i go to training. I was h oping you could give me advice about the order in which to do each product and helpful but simple tips for the first time. As I was reading, and as I've been talking to my sister, I realize that there is not ONE way to do a spa and it can be tailored to fit whatever format you want it to. So what is a good order to go in? Some were saying start with Show of Hands, others were saying to do it at the end; etc. What is your "order of procedure" or what seems to flow well?
Thanks for all the suggestions in advance!

Deb,
Tell Kristin to clean out her "cookies" and then maybe she will be able to sign up. That has been such a problem for us all!
Kristin, I would follow the flip cards until you feel comfortable. Then you can change it around to get what is a better flow for you. This is such a great tool designed for new consultants. I really wish that I had this when I was a new consultant! I had a sheet of paper with a script to follow. I keep one in my purse and use it at my spa parties.
It is wonderful that you have a party scheduled before BeautiU! I did too and it worked out great. http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
Just remember to have fun! You don't need to know everything.http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif If there is a question that comes up that you can't answer, tell them you will get back to them on it. Still do that 3 years later!
Much success to you!http://www.wahm.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif
edited to say: I keep my flip chart in my purse and use one at my parties. We had tornadoes again today, so my answers were rushed. Spent most of my time in a bathroom in the basement. We didn't even get rain, much less a tornado! But you can't ignore the sirens blasting in your ears either.

I agree with Vicki.
I just wanted to say, "WAY TO GO" for not waiting on getting up and running.....you are ahead of the game and will soar wtih this kind of activity. So many want to wait and they deny themselves the opportunity to be profitable early on. Congrats!
I use the flip chart for images.
Here's the order of how I do mine:
Lip Apeel
Eye Pads
While these are on, I teach relaxation breathing and progressive muscle relaxation
Warming Trend(activate w/ mist)
Herbal Serenity Foot Creme on one elbow (so they can feel a difference)
Smell the bath minerals
Show of Hands
Extreme Repair Hand Therapy
Good Luck and I'll look forward to you sharing how it went and what you learned that you'll use to help you reach your goals.
Now go get 'em!

How do you work in letting them smell our Bistro products and/or Therma del Sol? Brown Sugar or Sugar Scrub? All of these are great...
Does anyone try to work all this in? If so, how?
Or do you just display the extra items and let them smell?

Hey Andrea,
I use the sugar lotion for hand massages. Otherwise you could just mention 1 product from each line above. I think it would take too much time to experience all the different lines - but I know you'd get some sales just from having people smell the brown sugar! That's a hit!
Thanks for the advice for my sis. She is amazing :) and will do great, I know. Any additional "orders" that you use would be great to hear!

Do you do the hand massages during relaxation?

I do the Show of Hands at the beginning. I like having it there because
it is a good way to pull each person aside and meet them. Next I do
this:
lip apeel
lash and lid bath to remove eye makeup
eye pads
relaxation/destress breathing
I give a hand massage with the lavender lotion
take off eye pads and remove lip apeel. I give out some lip balm at this time.
I do the warming trend masque with herbal mist (or water in a spray bottle if you don't have the mist yet.)
microdermabrasion on the wrist
I usually discuss the skinlogics and the MRP system afterward. I use
the
flipcards a lot. Then I let anyone ask questions or request to see
anything else I have like the sugar spa or beautibistro line. I lay all
of these out on the coffee table or someplace where it catches their
eyes.
I have had great sales doing this, but you can tailor it any way that
you want. Some people do foot soaks and others do a head massage. Some
do the makeup. It is really up to you, but as you get started I would
stick to the flipcards or ask your recruiter/director if you could
observe one of her/his spas.
Angie
P.S. Tell your sister to sign up through firefox or internet explorer.
I tried to sign up from my aol account, but it wouldn't let me. I can
receive emails and read the posts from that account, but I can't post
anything unless I am on firefox. It is weird.

Someone told me that by doing the hand massages, it's harder to get recruits because they may NOT want to do hand massages on people...are ya'll finding this out too?

In our area, if you are receiving $$ for something - it's not legal to promote a massage if you aren't a massage therapist.
Don't know about other areas....
I teach my guest to do their own hand massage with the essential oils left on the hand from the SOH or when they are putting on the Extreme Repair.

the hand massage is one of the most popular/requested parts of the spa!
Most of the consultants around here do a hand massage. Usually just one
hand, but I like to do both hands for about 30 seconds each. It is such
a great way for the clients to really experience the product. I don't
do feet though.
I don't want the people at my parties to just pass around the products
and sniff them. That is what they are used to doing at Bath and
BodyWorks! This is different!
I remember all of the spas I attended before I joined BC. It really
made me feel like I enjoyed a mini spa experience I get at a salon. I
really felt pampered and the lingering smell of the lavender lotion
used for my hand massage made me fall in love with it hours after the
party was over.
