One of the things I love most about my business with Scent-Sations is the
fact that it lends itself so completely to involving the WHOLE FAMILY. I
love that the company has such strong family values, and that even our
conferences have activities planned that center on our children. I have
never heard of such a thing in NWM or MLM before- where people are
encouraged to bring their children to conferences! It's wonderful.
I thought it might be fun to share the ways in which we involve our
children (and our other family members) in our business.
My daughter is 2 years old, and I think that she may surpass me as the
supreme reigning candle goddess in our house some day- she *loves*
Mia Bella's. This child could be the Scent-Sations POSTER CHILD!smileys/smiley36.gif
Here are some ways that my daughter has ownership in our family
business:
-Helps put stickers on my brochures, catalogs, jars
-"Sniff Tester" of all new products that come in
-Pops out the cooled melt samples from candy molds
-Helps with door hanger distribution
-My "commercial gal" : She loves to carry around a votive (unlit, of
course) sniff it and say loudly, "MMM! MOMMY'S CANDLES SMELL GOOD!"
(this is often when we are in public) smileys/smiley36.gif
She is such a cutie, and I can't wait to integrate more teachable moments
with my daughter into our home business as she continues to grow. The
possibilities are endless!
What about others- how do your children help build your business?

My son makes scent samples for mesmileys/smiley1.gif. He loves to hammer them and fill the bags. He also helps me load and unload for shows/booths. When my daughter gets a bit older, I will bring themwith me.
I haven't tried door hangers yet, how are they working for you, Kitt?Edited by: lovethiscandle

My Son is a great helper and part owner as well. He gets a % of the profits and mommy gets a tax write off! smileys/smiley2.gif
He has his own URL and business cards. He sells to his school mates and teachers. He also talks candles to anyone we run into in public and anyone that comes to the house! He is going to be a great salesman! smileys/smiley36.gif

How old is your son? I was wondering how old some of your kids were that help out like that? I'm just afraid of allowing my 6 yo to help cause I don't know what's legal and all that jazz!

My daughter helps me at the flea market - she's my "barker".... which means she stands up with the candles and talks to everyone that even glances at the table "HEY! Do you love scented candles? Come smell THESE!" Then she actually gives them the stats as they are smelling such as....
These candles are all natural wax and burn clean without all the black junk, they burn even (and shows a sample of a burned jar we have), they have an average burn time around 100-120 hours, and they have the COOLEST SCENTS you will ever find anywhere!
She is a real little saleswoman there - she's turning 17 in June :)

Wow, you girls are lucky!
I told my 10 year old I would pay him to show the candles to some of our neighbors and he said he's too shy.
Then my husband said it's MY job to sell these candles!
So I said ok, well I guess I get to keep ALL the money for myself!smileys/smiley1.gifEdited by: 3timesamommy

Kira,
My son is 10. Check with your tax specialist. I do not know what the age limit is for paying helpers, but I know we can do it.
