I belong to the WAHMs Who Write folder. With the help of a few other writers, I am putting together a website for freelance writers, a place to promote our business and ourselves and sell directly to the content buyers. We have an excellent domain at www.freelancecontentwriters.com.
The problem is that the quote we received for web design was way more than we could afford (XXXX+), considering this is a co-op type project we are producing which is beginning with no money. So, I am forced to either buy one of those template making programs, or buy a template that I can modify in FrontPage.
My question is, can someone help me figure out which is more flexible, in terms of if I want to make changes later on.
Also, where can I find information on the best color schemes to choose to give the site the look and feel that is appropriate?
Thanks a million!
Diane

You should look into the possibility of using an open-souce CMS (Content Management System) One such package is called Joomla (http://www.joomla.org), and it free. This sytem, once installed on your host server, is easily customized to meet your needs. You can easily find a template or have one custom designed for your needs. Im not an expert but can help with getting you and running for free. I can be reached via email at rc@caribegifts.com.

Someone else mentioned a few content management systems. The problem is, I know nothing about setting all that up. If it really isn't too terribly difficult I may have to give that a shot.
Thanks!

It is simple, they have a walkthru guide on installing the package. Ask if you get stuck.

I've heard good things about Drupal as a content management system. Haven't tested it yet, though.
I'm also a "mom who writes" in addition to being a web designer. I'd be happy to work on this project with you. I really need a site like this in my portfolio and would be willing to negotiate a price within your budget. PM me for more information.
