View Full Version : Bridal Shows

I'm thinking of doing a bridal show and I'd really appreciate some feedback.
This show is done every six weeks or so, and it's put on by the reception
venue. They keep it small--only about 18 tables or so. They only have one
vendor per service, so I wouldn't be competing with any other skin care/
cosmetics companies which is great. The down side is it costs $300 which
seems like a lot for two hours. What do you all think? I really want to hear
from people who have done bridal shows and have followed up with
contacts. Also, please tell me what state you're in, since I think regional
differences matter--very few people in NJ know of Arbonne and this may be
a disadvantage.

Thanks so much!

I think $300 is steep! My husband is a wedding photographer and he pays >$600 for a show that runs 11am - 4pm. AND that show is advertised in the newspaper & on billboards. (It's sponsored by The Perfect Wedding Guide - an ad booklet featuring any/all businesses for the wedding industry.)

He also does a show at a banquet center (a 3 hour show) - they only charge $75!

(could be regional - we live in Cincinnati, OH. Are you in California or on the East Coast?)

I'm in New Jersey. I think everything is more expensive in the New York
area. I agree $300 sounds like a lot. Still, I'm thinking if I got five clients
out of it, it may be worth it. My friend (and downline) and I may go to one
and walk around--it's free. That way we can get a better idea of the
situation.

I just can't seem to find any kind of expo for under $500 here in NH. I would love to find a $300 event!

It is a lot of money for such a short time though. I guess I would want to find out some specifics from this event in the past- how many guests do they expect? How many have come in the past? How much advertising is done? (newspaper, tv,radio...). I would just ask lots of questions. Oh, and if you do go to walk around, ask some of the vendors if they've been there before and how it has been for them.

I heard a great training once, maybe Michael Clouse? About going to events, speaking with the booth owners shortly and then getting their info and dropping them a thank you note after to thank them fortaking the time tospeak with you, you really enjoyed talking, etc. The note was mailed the day you went to the event and a phone call follow-up came 2 or 3 days later. Wish i could remember moredetails. I guess it goes without saying that you will want to speak with/follow up with those who you reallyfeel would be interested in what you are offering. Not that you want to pre-judge, butyou probably know what I mean :0)

Good luck to you! Let us know how it goes if you decide to participate!

I know, the cost of these things in general is obscene. I think this one
may
be more worth it than a larger one because the people coming are
generally
people who are having their receptions at this venue. Being part of it sort
of
implies endorsement by the venue because they don't let just anyone
participate. Plus, I like the idea of no competition at the show. It helps
us to stand out more. I was thinking, as an RVP I'd have no problem
putting up this cash!
Maybe the key is putting up the cash before becoming RVP. smileys/smiley2.gifStill, I
feel I've done a lot of that already!

Carrie, you're right about the Michael Clouse training. In fact, that's why I
thought about going. It's free, they put out chafing dishes smileys/smiley32.gif and I'd
get to talk to other vendors. It seems like there are not too many places
that do shows like this on their own. Is that common in OH or NH? I do
like the idea of an intimate show.

Thanks for your input!
