As I already posted I am a brand new consultant and was wondering where my money would be best spent. I have read lots of posts where convention has had a huge impact on a consultants business, but I also don't know many people and need to get the word out about my new business.
What would you do and why?
Thanks again.

I was once with Usborne. Convention is where you NEED to be. There are free ways to advertise.
Visit local daycares, children's hospitals, elementary schools, libraries, etc
Call local Family Child Care Providers about Reach For the Stars Reading Program.
Find your local non-profit literacy organizations and let them know you can help families get free books. Leave info packs they can pass on to families of interest.
Look up local Red Hat Society groups and offer to do a Grandma's Shopping Party. The hostess benefits can go to a local underprivieleged children's organization.
Etc etc.. See...the above gets the word out and it cost you nothing.smileys/smiley17.gif You need to be at Convention.

Hi Kimberley,
I completely agree with Charlee, go to convention! A lifetime of training, learning, and experience packed into just a few days, what could be better? smileys/smiley1.gif
Our supplies (flyers, etc) are so reasonably priced at $0.05-0.06 a piece you don't really need a whole lot to get started. Start calling preschools and get appointments to drop someflyers by and look at a few books. You don't need a lot of supplies or books to do these. And the Reach for the Stars is another excellent program where you need very little supplies and no books!
I would start with the basics, the easy things, home shows, preschool book fairs and RFTS, churches, etc then move on to advertising, etc once you have started to bring in a profit. smileys/smiley1.gif
