Hello Everybody!
I have a small Graphic Design business that I am growing. I feel that many of my ideas would be better conveyed if I could just draw them. Does anyone have any experience with a drawing tablet, or should I just draw my ideas and scan them into the computer...

Hi Lisa -
I went back to school a while back and am in your field. My professor suggested we buy and use a tablet for one of my classes so I went ahead and spent the money.
After I got use to it, I absolutly fell in love with it and would highly suggest getting one. Many people just like to use a tablet to draw in graphic programs straight from their head to the monitor. People like me use it to trace photo's and also trace drawings that I have scanned into the computer. It helps out so much.
They have cheap ones that you can try out if you don't want to spend a lot of money but I got the more expensive one. Not a bigger one but one that was of better quality.
If you don't mind me asking you a question, How did you start your own graphic design business? Do you have enough business coming in and do you work from home? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
Cammy

Cammy,
Sorry to get back so late,I was having trouble getting onto the boards. I am getting a tablet, thanks for the input!
To answer your questions: Basically I decided to start my own business and all that entails is creating my own identity, logo, cards, website. When I get more work I will get my business license and get my tax forms in order... I do not really have enough business to consider it a real income source yet, but that is what I am working on. I have three small children at home so I want to create items that people can buy and do custom work when I can...

Hi Cammy,
I just popped into see if I could be of any help to anyone, I just wanted to let you know I share your love of the Drawing Tablet!!! I got one in school as well, a very cheap one, but it went caput so I got a more expensive one and boy you can really tell a difference in the quality. Anyhow, starting your own business is very easy, but I recommend going down and getting your business license and join your local chamber of commerce as that chamber of commerce membership is going to increase your income 3 fold! I know from personal experience. Anyhow, just make sure you have a good grasp of what service you are wanting to sell be it graphic/web design whatever and go for it. It is such a small price for such a high return. I make enough that my husbandis now able to work only part time and go back to school, and I never have to leave the house! I do work one-on-one with my clients but they usually meet me at my house in my home office. It is the greatest freedom in the world. Good luck!!
