I am currently a stay at home and homeschool my autistic son. Because of certain family situation I needed to start working, if I want to contine to homeschool my son. I joined Discovery toys, I believe in their company, love their toys and the main reason I joined is that they support and have worked with Autism Speaks.
I believe I can do a very good job selling them. I have one major issue, I have MS so it is hard to determine how my legs are from one moment to the next. I am very nervous scheduling home parties with people.
I need advice on how I can market myself more online and having people do catolog parties, etc.. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't really want to advertise the reason why I am pushing the online sales, catalog parties and not the home parties.
As far as I know, the market I am in is open, maybe one or to people in this area. The people I spoke to have said they haven't heard about Discovery Toys in years, so I know there is not or if any at all.
The good thing, is I did receive a call to do a display at a convention center for over 500 moms attending, they said the rep that usually did was 2 hours away and she couldn't do it and she was not aware that there was any reps here until she seen me posting. I am having a friend help, so that will get the word out about my business.
My question is, does anyone have advice or creative ideas to help me market myself market more on-line and doing more catalog parties?
Thanks for your help!

You could maybe market to people you normally would hold a home party with but explain the situation to people.. tell them that you'd like them to have a compuer avaliable so that if needed the day of the party you may need to do a webinar party. There are free webinar services that work pretty decently (freebinar.com is my favorite)
You could also do a blog about kids toys and go to forums that focus on kids. to market yourself online as well. You can also market yourself through adwords (Google, or Bing)

Similar to craft shows, but allow home party companies to display and sell their wares.
You would be sitting at a booth most of the day, so medical should not be a problem.
Also called Home party cash and carry shows. I've seen everyone from tupperware to avon selling
at these type events. They usually cost about $25 or so for the day
good luck

As anyone in direct sales knows, it's all in the numbers and your email list. You've gotten some good advice on short term, but longer term, here is what I'd suggest.
Start a fan page on Facebook. Fan pages are for businesses and it's a great way to get social, meeting people online, building a rapport so that when they are ready to buy something or need a gift for someone, they will think of you. The best thing about it is that it's all free... ok, you do need to invest some time, but you'll be amazed at the results. And, from a business perspective FB has all sorts of tools (again, most are free) so you can capture email addresses for a newsletter, have a contact page, use videos to demonstrate your products and I can go on and on forever.
And, while you're at the convention center or other shows, let people know you're on FB by adding your fan page to your business card.
Now, I need to confess to you :o, the reason I know this works is because I have a fan page expressly for direct sellers like yourself who want to know more about how to use them to grow their business. I have new information all of the time and I'm getting ready to release my first video series (and it will be free too) on getting started with your fan pages. So, if you just want to take a look around and meet some like-minded women you can hop on over to Easy Fan Pages for Direct Sellers (http://www.fb.com/easyfanpages) and say hi.
Great success to you!
